Don’t know if we’re having a separate thread for it but I’m really looking forward to the US Open. They always make it so tough with the rough and the fast greens and it’s a 7500 yard par 70! Sounds like an over par winner again.

I have made the following bets:

DJ - 15/2. Just in ridiculous form, unflappable temperament, driving better than I’ve ever seen anyone drive. If he carries that in he’ll be basically unstoppable, as reflected in the stupidly short odds. But he’s honestly that good right now. Won the first Fedex playoffs tournament by 11 shots a month ago, 28 shots ahead of Rory. Daft.

Tony Finau - 30/1 ew. Lots made of him having 30 odd top 10s and only one win, but he also bombs it and is also always in contention. Short game underrated.

Brendon Todd - 80/1 ew. About as good on the greens as anybody right now, otherwise not spectacular. Don’t really think he’ll win, but do think his price is too big.

Cameron Champ - 100/1 ew. The official longest hitter on tour (I think) and one of the few PGA pros of mixed racial heritage. Would be good and fun if he won.

Really feel like Xander Schauffele will be close too, but his odds are too short to risk, only 12/1 on Betfair. I’m only interested in DJ at those odds or shorter.

Why bookies stay in business. 100k on Woods to win all 4 at 100-1, if he was 25-1 at each tournament that would be a 390,000-1 shot. A fool and his money.

As of Tuesday night, 18% of the money that had been wagered on the tournament winner was on Woods, who is listed at 40-1. Johnson is the favorite at 17-2, followed by [Jon Rahm]

Mickelson is way down the odds board, but there are some believers in the left-hander who has never won the U.S. Open. Last week, a bettor placed a $45,000 bet on Mickelson to win the tournament at 75-1 odds at a William Hill sportsbook in southern Nevada. The bettor would win a net $3.375 million if Mickelson prevails.

The wager represents the second-largest liability on an individual golf bet in William Hill’s history in the U.S., behind only a $100,000 bet placed last year on Woods to win all four major tournaments at 100-1 odds.

Maybe next year Islanders fans :frowning:

my heart couldn’t have handled a late-night game 7 this weekend to be honest

future is bright though, Greiss may walk to a rival and he deserves too, but this is a team who are already very good and aren’t going to face a lot of cap issues this offseason so can keep things relatively intact

Bah, hate it when the final round of a Major is set up to be exciting and it winds up being a snoozefest procession (well it’s looking that way anyway)

Lots of people declaring DeChambeau winning as the end of golf, conveniently ignoring how incredibly well he played. He was at least three shots better in the final round than everyone else.

One of the few sensible things I’ve read about it pointed out that the USGA shot themselves in the foot by making the fairways so narrow. That disadvantaged the shorter drivers because even their good drives were often in the rough anyway, only 60 yards back from where Bryson was in the rough.

He’s got a great chance at the Masters too because wayward drives are rarely punished at Augusta, while crazy length off the tee is a massive advantage.

Remember these kind of arguments with John Daly. Probably earlier than that. Anyone who hits further than anyone else has always been treated with derision and suspicion.

Just look at Happy Gilmore

Thought the Jays were going great, then somehow the last fortnight happened. :baseball:

If you like athletes who are comfortably put together, and who doesn’t, then Alejandro Kirk is here.

Well, that’s the Jays done for another year. Time to hide my Joe Carter bobble head until April.

Baseball announcing can get very odd on big plays, simultaneously poetic and unbelievably cheesy. “That Voit is adroit, he hits one to Detroit”. Hmmm, had than one stored for a while?

Top of the 8th in game 5 of Yankees@Rays, 1-1. Cmon you beautiful Californian bastards.

Mike Brosseau you beautiful man

I thought the Rays were Tampa Bay?

Ohhh yes they are… I always get Cali and Florida confused. I think it being played at the Padres’ place added to my 3:22 am confusion
