My beloved Houston could do with a good sports team right now. Any idea whether the Dynamos are genuine contenders?

Another team with a terrible rebrand. Sadly, I think Houston are more likely to be bottom than make the playoffs. I reckon 10th is probably about where they’ll end up.

I’ll be heading to as many Sounders games as I can this this year. Limited capacity means I have next to no chance of getting a ticket for a while though.

We’ve talked about this before! With the new stadium downtown, it’s going to be possible…if the stars align… to take in an Ohio State game, a Crew game and a Blue Jackets game all on one day! and all within walking distance.

I kind of forgot that was happening. It’s great location and FC Cincinnati have a massive supporter base. I really hope Jaap makes a go of it.

ha ha we probably have! I have a terrible memory. The Minnesota stadium is on a train line which has all the other city sports stadiums on it. I really regret not having the chance to see a match there before I moved out West. I’m hoping to time my visits back to Chicago to enable driving to the mid west stadiums I missed out on.

10 minutes to go!

5:00pm/1am Houston Dynamo vs SJ Earthquakes
6:30pm/2:30am Seattle Sounders FC vs Minnesota United

SJ play with a nutty man marking system that either works fairly well or catastrophically. Hopefully we’ll see an open match with a lot of goals to start the season!

Minnesota will give Seattle a good match… I think an upset may be on the cards. Seattle look a little light after Morris was injured. They usually wait until the Summer to make their moves, so a bad start shouldn’t prove terminal to their chances.

One thing I forgot to mention:
The US Open cup (like the FA cup) is running a shorter schedule this season. The 8 teams with the best record after 3 matches will qualify along with 8 lower league teams. So most teams will have the midweek off.

I’m still catching up my English teams from early today. The Reading game and London Irish in the rugby.

I was really hoping Wondo could bag an equalizer, but Houston holds on for the W.

Oh Shiiiiit, I missed this. The one guy you’d want on the end of it!

Poor Wondo still gets stick about an infamous World cup miss. Doesn’t matter how many MLS goals he bags.

Love to Orlando losing, hopefully KC can keep going and get the win. Busio with a clever finish to break the deadlock.

Busio attracted a bit of Serie A interest in the close season. It’s not hard to see why. Just a lovely player to watch - hopefully he can make the right move.

The CCL resumes next week!

This Nashville side are such good value. Lovely to see Dax and CJ playing well.

Absolutely horrific display from Chicago Fire today. Collier still getting game time in 2021 smdh

Fire are about to have the second worst badge in the league! Wtf is this?

What’s the worst one, dare I ask?

This has gone down like a lead balloon. It’s a whole rebrand and we are now called “Columbus SC”. The Crew part has been dropped and is now a nickname. None to the fan groups were consulted. It’s a car crash.
