I’ve never been able to find another band that scratch the itch Morphine do

Early dEUS?

Just saw this which I didn’t realise

  • Tom Barman, a friend of Sandman and frontman of the Belgian band dEUS whom with Dana Colley collaborated on their second studio album In a Bar, Under the Sea, dedicated “The Real Sugar” to Sandman. The song is to be found on the band’s 2005 effort Pocket Revolution.

The sax is particularly effective because when it kicks in, about the 4-minute mark, it is so unexpected.

All I know of them is the song Little Arithmetics which sounds very gentle indie. I’ll have a look at their first album. You’ve got me a little excited to be honest, bloody love Morphine.

Grew up hating the sound of saxophones, possibly due to my dad playing Springsteen and Gerry Rafferty when he was doing the ironing. Love them now though. Here’s a few favourites off the top of my head

Mars Volta!

Apologies if “The National Anthem” has been posted already but I don’t think I saw it:

A classic Stone Temple Pilots saxophone solo:

This one in particular always reminds me of Morphine

gigantic banger from Pete Wareham

cos they’re one of a kind! unique in so many ways.
