Kin is ok but Donuts and the last track are the best things they’ve done in years.

fuckin hell I hadn’t heard this before, it’s a slappers, makes me pine (between this and ‘We’re Not Done’ from KIN) for a proper shoegazey post-punk/hardcore album ala Nothing or Title Fight

yeah this, CODY’s their best album by miles and it’s largely because of this run

Happy Songs is the one for me - think Golden Porsche is tied with Avril 14th for my favourite (shorter) instrumental track

I’m surprised people rate this so high. To me it’s their worst soundtrack. ZeroZeroZero is fantastic.

It’s not all Mogwai, but check out the Before the Flood soundtrack

Posted this in the HGATR, but this is a superb recording from the Rock Action Period. The really raw sounding strings are great, especially on Take Me Somewhere Nice. Such a different sound to their slicker post 2010 style.

right then. Here we go, having listened through the longlist this is the album I came up with, please let me know if you ignore it

(by the way, I haven’t changed identity I just forgot I was logged into my partner’s Spotify while doing this)

Happy songs will always be my favorite. As I said I stopped listening to them on Rock Action but in 2003 they did a gig in a small club in Dublin to test the new material for what would become Happy Music.

The gig was jaw dropping, they opened with Hunted and by the time they played Killing all the flies I was in love again.

I saw them in 2003 when they were touring HSFHP and it was so so fucking loud then. It’s obviously a loud album and tracks like Ratts just absolutely destroyed

I honestly believe les revenants to be one of the bands masterpieces. Maybe you watched the tv series or maybe you didn’t. I watched it and this made the music even more spine chilling. I don’t think I can remember a soundtrack fitting a film/show or a show fitting a soundtrack as perfectly as this for quite some time. Proper twin peaks vibes.

Atomic I think is a case of it really being much more impactful if you have seen the film.

Had noticable tinitus in my left ear for a month after standing right in front of the speaker watching them play The Anson Rooms in Bristol in 2001. Could see a sticker on their gear cases with a sketch of someone coveringh their ears and screaming.

Really? Les Rev is easily their best soundtrack for me. It’s their most engaging and the one that could most easily pass as a standard studio album.
