Really pleased for the lads. I can’t imagine they’d have honestly expected to get a number 1 album when they started out. No wonder they were getting giddy with excitement on the socials the last few days. Felt a little off, people digging at them for it.

Looking down the chart a bit, how in the name of fuck is Queen’s Greatest Hits in the top 10 again? Surely every single person in Britain (except @anon19035908) owns a copy by now…

Reckon it’s probably down to people always streaming it.
The movie the other year prob I troduced a whole new generation to them.
And having thought a wee bit more about it… The evergreen nature favours the type of consumers who would have bought a CD once a year. For the Queen boom recently in years gone by this would have meant a sales spike in the charts then it droppi g out. But now that people stream rather than buy… that means lots of those type of concumers find a handful of albums they like and stick with and rinse them all the time and so the streams keep Queen in a good chart position.

On a side note I’d love a breakdown of the chart by purchases (physical and digital) and then physical purchases only. Reckon Mogwai have a big physical product base.
