I’m not really able to differentiate this kind of ambient music really, all sounds very similar to me and usually doesn’t change my mood or put me in a place. It’s not got any cues to my own nostalgia or people or places. I think I don’t find changes in texture as profound or interesting in music as change in melody or chords
Have you never been in a McDonalds by yourself late at night?
never in my life, been at a late night mcdonalds after a gig with friends but it didn’t sound like that
also it’s bad but because when I make nebulous music I tend to just play about then think of a title afterwards I never give much credence to what ambient or electronic music is called
yeah it doesn’t sound like Burial. It feels like it though
love the idea of that song being dismissed as not sounding literally like the mcdonalds in question
if it was a kozelek song he’d tell you exactly what he ordered and how much it cost tbh
sounds like a pizza express in woking
I think that song title is very deliberate and forms a part of the storytelling.
gonna be good when he eventually makes the song about stumbling across this forum and slags me off
that’s good, probably adds to it
Burial is to me what Steely Dan is to @still_here, just don’t get it at all, can’t see the value in his stuff.
Ain’t tastes funny and that
a lot of small long held associations with what music you like I think. Like that PC music stuff, I’ve always associated brash synth sounds with trash 80s music and cheap casio keyboards, the music of boring afternoons in the 90s listening to connect.fm
absolutely reckon he must’ve been playing this at the time
was on the fence really, didn’t want to take a side because I like Steely Dan, I like Burial, and maybe with time, I could like this so called ‘PC Music’ too.
but the line has been crossed.
then there might be biological stuff like how our hearing is different, I don’t like trebly stuff, prefer a more middy sound, again though that’s partly association as I associate bright guitars and drums with 90s britpop which I don’t like for other laddy club night associations. layers upon layers
always use the neck pickup on guitars
Scallops for dinner.
Kozelek doesn’t exist.
