1 - attitudes take time to change, and as some people discussed in the thread, the very act of pointing out how destructive some of the attitudes are (even in jest), does help to change minds.
2 - again, as addressed in the thread, we donāt know whether some people were treating the whole thing as a bit of a lark rather than seriously thinking about the question in literal terms.
3 - it is, nonetheless, concerning that so many people thought this was something they were okay with saying, but DiS is on a journey - a couple of years ago, that result would have been considered uncontroversial by the majority. The fact that were agonising about it (and had a very good thread too) is a good sign about our progress as a community. Much more room for improvement, but we are going through in the right direction I think.
4 - and I set this aside deliberately, as also mentioned, in the thread some people will take time to adjust and feel upset about the changes - we shouldnāt write them off, but continue working, trying to convince and hope we bring them along with us in time.
