Nah I haven’t finalised it. Just needed to get a good option in the bag so I can relax a bit.

Can’t wait to wake up to the postman pouring stout through my letterbox.

I know, but hyperbole is always good  never seen a case where it didn’t help. Ahem.

Remind me later in the week and I’ll explain the “bread and cheese lunch” concept - that might work for you/the trust in the future too!

Good luck with the purchasing

2 episodes in, brilliant so far

And @bamnan - complex one.

1 - attitudes take time to change, and as some people discussed in the thread, the very act of pointing out how destructive some of the attitudes are (even in jest), does help to change minds.
2 - again, as addressed in the thread, we don’t know whether some people were treating the whole thing as a bit of a lark rather than seriously thinking about the question in literal terms.
3 - it is, nonetheless, concerning that so many people thought this was something they were okay with saying, but DiS is on a journey - a couple of years ago, that result would have been considered uncontroversial by the majority. The fact that were agonising about it (and had a very good thread too) is a good sign about our progress as a community. Much more room for improvement, but we are going through in the right direction I think.

4 - and I set this aside deliberately, as also mentioned, in the thread some people will take time to adjust and feel upset about the changes - we shouldn’t write them off, but continue working, trying to convince and hope we bring them along with us in time.

Are you and Bammers talking about the same thread? I had no real problem with the anonymous polls thread (and spin off thread on fat acceptance)… Not so keen on the one where people are redirected to a site where they can post stuff anonymously.

Just watched Long Shot on Netflix - ticked many of the Scout entertainment boxes that did.

(The thing about the murder and Curb Your Enthusiasm)

Not going to bore you with the usual stuff, just imagine I did the normal complaining

I’m not sure actually. I’m mostly talking about the “fat” one, which I thought was largely productive… Mostly ignored the one with the other site as soon as I saw the kind of stuff that was on there already - seems more suited to a 4chan community.

I guess in relation to the latter, it’s worth remembering that while we’ve stopped the worst of our trolls contributing here, there’s nothing stopping them from getting involved elsewhere, and we know they are still around.

I guess The optimistic side of me says that even if some people ate slow to adjust or are cloaking their views relatively successfully, they will eventually either come around or slip up and we’ll make them aware that their views are incompatible with the general ethos here and they’re unwelcome.

I get that the some of what was posted there is dispiriting, but the very fact that it’s all on there when some of it would have been on here in the past is (to me) quite telling in itself.

think they’re both pretty dodgy but that doesn’t mean I hate the guts of anyone involved or anything. Just a little surprised, I mean there may be some new folks here and there but the majority of us have been posting or seeing others post for ages and have witness the distress personal remarks and bullying has caused (not saying anyone’s bullying specific folks here but still), feels like most of us have been around long enough to understand.

Basically if you suspect something might upset another person, it’s definitely not worth defending your right to say whatever you feel like.

I mean it’s actually pretty easy to not make jokes based on people’s appearance, gender, race, beliefs etc.

Still, we’ll all keep learning and trying our best I’m sure

Japenese was good. Can now say how much is coffee.

Took the food waste bin out, the grimest of all chores. Might start not caring about the planet again.

Lovely image of you putting all this work in so you can get a Xmas job at Starbucks in Osaka.

After the busy weekend, I had a pretty lazy day today, which was nice (and kind of a given, seeing as how I woke up with an 'orrible cold)

Aye, bloody love me a bit of Dibnah

He clapped that chimney on the roof when he was sixteen, I’ve had to live with it ever since. It’s awful. I came home one day from work and there it was, sticking up in the sky. The photographer came from the Evening News. People drove here on Sunday afternoons to stare at it. Everyone said our Fred was a lunatic.
