my main conundrum right now is that I started learning German because I was going on holiday to Berlin and it seemed like a good thing to do in advance, learn a few bits and pieces because I knew nothing but the absolute most basic of basics and/or “German” off The Day Today.

but then I didn’t go to Berlin, and we’ve been looking at holidays this year and none of them are in Germany, so er why learn it when I could learn something else (language or otherwise) that I might actually use?

reassuring to hear that it’s not just me thinking these things though - my wife’s waaaaaaay deep on Duolingo with Italian but says that she’s had the same experience as well so not just me being thick, which makes a change.

First up: satsumas. A gulf of difference between a good satsuma and a bad satsuma, yet they look practically identical from the outside. What else?
