When the parent of a kid apologises to you because their kid (about 8 or 9 years old) is being a bit loud but you’re not bothered by it, you should:
- Play along with it and accept the apology so as to not undermine their authority and the kid might be quiet which is what they really want to get out of this microinteraction
- Say you’re not bothered but possibly undermine their authority and the kid might continue to be loud
