Today is the first day when both me and my wife are at work. Either end of the dining table. She talks too much.

grass her up!!

I have told her off for looking at her phone. Hopefully she can’t see DiS reflected in the window behind me.

Don’t anticipate it being too stressful tbh, for a number of reasons. The job is my old boss’s job, so his boss is interviewing and I’ve worked with her for a long time. Secondly I only really applied for the job to try to prevent some total numpty getting it, but now I know who two of the other three candidates are I’d be pretty relaxed with either of them getting it anyway. And in any case I think one of them deserves it more than me anyway, since she works hard and has ideas and stuff, which I cba with any more

The first day without the kids here… I thought I would like it but I don’t!

Nobody’s telling me to do it. I’m going to do it for a laugh.

Getting far too easily distracted at the moment, spent the last 10 minutes deciding on what to listen to.*

My WiFi is being installed in my new house today, so I need to be in from 1-6. I had planned to WFH on my mobile hotspot, but the VPN work uses kicks the laptop off that connection, meaning I can’t send or receive emails. Anyone have any tips for tricking the VPN into thinking my android phone is a proper network?

much prefer being on cam, feels more like ive had a conversation with someone other than gf in the day

Yeah, it’s weird. I actually don’t like chatting to people with the camera off now. Especially people I haven’t met before. Had an introductory meeting with a new guy who wanted to speak on the phone and it felt very awkward.

pro tip: if you’re going to ‘share screen’ to your web browser while in a meeting with directors then make sure you don’t have a tab open to another org that looks like this

They might take it as the biggest flex ever and be quietly impressed

maybe, but it was a nervy moment there. Everyone saw, nobody said a word.

Tbh though I doubt there’s a single one of them that isn’t looking over their LinkedIn shoulders on the regular for favourable transfers

Love looking at people’s tabs on share screen. And the people trying to get their attention on Skype/Teams too.

Depends on the person. Had a request last week for cameras off from one of my staff and I’m quite worried about it.

Just got invited to a breakfast meeting. The invite says ‘BYOB (the second B stands for bacon)’.

Say you didn’t see the text in parentheses and crack open a Carling on camera.

had someone IM me while they were screensharing, with a comment slagging off a director who was on the call

nearly died as i saw it unfolding in front of me

One of the things I like about Teams is that it lets you screen share only a specific window.

(Of course I absolutely do not trust it / my ability to use it correctly)

Ask what the first B stands for.
