Really ill tbh

About two years ago I switched from ‘just a bit of a tidy up please’ to embracing baldness with a 4 all over. That’s as wild as it’s got style-wise in recent years.

That’s something though man! Whenever I get my hair cut at this new barber he grade 2’s the back and sides before attacking the top and I get the urge to be like ‘just leave it mate, quite like it’.

You should! Make the most of it, some of us don’t have that opportunity anymore!

Really wanted to do some drastic than my normal short back and sides, have the top longer and blend it in with the sides. When it came to it, didn’t have the bollocks to. Got a hot towel treatment though so…

I’m a big fan of your fluffy quiff tho richard but I can understand the need for change. Think I’ll probably chicken out on my plan tonight but maybe shorter hair is better all round in this heat. I’ve never had one of those hot towel treatments, is that where they place a towel over your face and pour barbicide on you until you confess?

The barber version of waterboarding. Holding a cutthroat razor to yr neck whilst they do it.

Was decent tbh. Got a eucalyptus face balm and some beard oil rubbed in, then a hot towel over me mush for 5 mins or so. Pretty refreshing.

He cut the fringe too short though.

That sounds pretty cracking tbf. Is your beard back in full swing then? Can imagine feeling quite revigorated after something like that.

They always do this :disappointed: Takes about 2 weeks post cut before I’m alright with it.

Even after I asked him to keep it a bit longer than the rest of the top. Would still head back. Trim me eyebrows and all.

Beard grows slowly, so not a peak beardiness like 6 months ago, but nice and trim atm.

Technically, mine changes every couple of months. Many many years ago I started dying it blonde (originally for Glastonbury, but I liked it, so I kept it), but as the years have passed I’ve been getting it cut shorter as I’ve been going balder.

So these days I’m on a roughly two month cycle of

  • dye hair
  • hair get a bit long
  • go to the barbers and get a number 3 all over
  • remaining hair is so short it’s just the dark brown roots
  • back to step 1

Sometimes, if I don’t have much on socially or I just don’t get round to it, I go two haircuts without dying and end up brown haired for a few months.

Anyway, good morning.

I wish I had something exciting to share with you all today, but it’s one of those inconsequential days. Nothing interesting at work or play today.

Barbering is a dangerous game.

Sounds good though orch, how blond are we talking? Full platinum?

morning chummmmmm…ps

wore a hoody on the way in today. WHY DID I DO THIS it’s humid as fuck.

was worried i was going to have loads of work this morning as there were hunners of emails that came in overnight but thankfully it’s nothing to do with me

Yep. Naturally I’m very dark brown, so I have to use a pre-lightener rather than a dye, and the packets say leave on for 45 minutes - I aim for a couple of hours at least so as not to go ginger*. If there’s a bit of blonde left in my hair it’ll be platinum / ash / white, if it’s going from dark brown it’ll be blonder, but if I’m out in the sun a bit it’ll get light as time goes by.

*I’ve said it before but no offence to gingers - my mum and sister are gingers

Pulled a bit of a @xylo and got absolutely twisted last night. Rocked into work half an hour late and I’m not well.

Meeting the landlord after work to tell him I’m moving out. Going to struggle today.

That’s pretty cool man, never really thought about dying my barnet before.

Actually find it quite comforting. Like he’s there watching over us even while we sleep. Like Batman.

It was pretty unusual at the time (I did it for Glasto 98), but within a year or two Eminem had become popular, there was a whole team at the 2000 world cup who all dyed their hair blonde (one of the eastern European teams IIRC), and a F1 driver too, so before long it seemed like I was the cool kid who was ahead of the curve.

Although I guess that means that these days I’m about 15 years behind the curve, but fuck it.
