Most exciting new acts in the world right now (2026 edition)

A fun thread to recommend new-ish acts (I tend to define this as anyone who hasn’t released a debut album yet or is a couple of records in but not headlining arenas or festival stages yet) (and obviously some acts aren’t destined or interested in that anyway)

I haven’t been so sure that I’ve seen a once in a generation talent for quite some time but Sofia Isella is something else. She shreds, she plays violin, and her lyrics are as devastating as her production.

Met her at Reading and chatted about NiN, Halsey, Plath, and more

Die Spitz

One of the best and most exciting rock bands going, I already regret not voting for their 2025 album in the poll. I love it when you can tell a band has both punk and metal influences but isn’t specifically within those genres (see Burning Brides and a lot of the stuff Buddyhead was backing in the early 2000s). They’re apparently touring with Foo Fighters, hope it makes them massive.

Absolutely thunderous

UNIVERSITY

Their debut last year is one of the most exciting I’ve ever heard, it’s just surging with energy. Everyone needs to listen to the back to back of Gorilla Panic and Hustler’s Metamorphasis immediately, they’ll make you want to run through a wall.

I’d bet against her playing with Taylor or filling arenas, but microtonal jazzpop lady Maddie Ashman is very exciting to me.

Other Half

Not sure if they count since they’re three albums in now, but I’ll post them just in case because they’re the best band of the decade.

Loving what Ladylike are doing. Not sure about world domination, but excited to see what they do when they release their first album (whenever that is). This is from the upcoming EP.

D O Gallagher

It’s super early in this guy’s career but I think he could pick up a lot of steam. The Arab Strap/ Hold Steady crossover we didn’t know we needed
