Home town as in where you live or where you were born?
“YOU ALL EVERYBODY! YOU ALL EVERYBODY!”
There’s a whole page of notable residents for Brighton
Winston Churchill’s on the list.
In terms of living people it’s probably a toss up between Chris Eubank or Fatboy Slim. Or Zoella if you’re not old like me.
As it bloody well should be
I took it as where you feel your home is. You could have moved away but feel your home is where you grew up. Or you could have moved somewhere and feel that’s where your home is now.
We’ve got John Hurt, which is pretty great, but not as great as:
Phil Jupitus has moved around a fair bit. His family moved from Barking to Horndon and then Stanford. He used to live in Leigh, but now lives in Fife.
We are very almost neighbours
From where I born; Guy Garvey (his big sister used to babysit me & my sister) Gary & Phil Neville Kieran Trippier Andy Goram Cherie Blair Richmal Crompton & Sir Robert Peel
This reads like Phil Jupitus either has or should have a restraining order against you.
Tim “Fucking” Peake
We could walk around shouting each other’s usernames until we meet?
(I’m not still there, grew up there but then moved to Glasgow)
He used to live next door to an ex-girlfriend of mine (in Leigh). They had them over for an Xmas do one year, and her Dad had bookmarked a load of pages in some ancient joke book that he thought he might like/find useful. Poor Phill. Apparently he was all “Oh, great. Cheers!”.
King Alfred the Great was born there. There is a big statue in town that everyone throws pint glasses at on NYE
Also Lester Piggott was born there and John Betjeman lived there
Probably Mark E. Smith, innit.
Jane McDonald
Probably Lewis Hamilton (Stevenage).
John Cooper Clarke lived there for a bit, and is rumoured to have written Evidently Chickentown about the experience. If this is true, then he has pretty much nailed it.
SNAP.
Notable mention for Howard Marks also…
