I know what you mean regarding UCL but they’ve got the best defensive record in the league this year by some distance, basically all of that backline has the potential they just collectively need to step up to European elite level

Like Bayern are much leakier but they’re so good going forward that they get away with it, the only other team close to Leipzig in defence this year is Wolfsburg and lo and behold they are 3rd thatnls to a.combination of that and Weghorst

Probably my poor geography skills, but I didn’t realise Luxembourg had more or less twice the population of Iceland. Puts in perspective how much they were overachieving.

Looked it up and Leipzig have conceded the same amount as City (21) Wolfsburg (22) have a better record than the next best in the prem, Chelsea (25)

It’s a futile exercise but the two leagues look pretty much the same this year, two teams clearly in the league, a slightly unexpected top 5 from a couple “smaller” teams overachieving, one team.clearly at the bottom adrift, a couple still fighting for survival.

Bayern and City have similar size and strangleholds over the league etc

Yes they did, and that was pretty frustrating because they are normally much better than that, but I feel Leipzig haven’t quite got into the mentality that they’re an elite club yet despite getting to the semis last year
