That’ll be tomorrow presumably. Surely…

Pressure her into doing this but double the amount at the last minute and offer no explanation.
This was good, as Wright usually is.
I don’t think the Post Office, as a company, will last the year. I’m sure some senior tories are thrilled.
Ian Hislop absolutely furious. Didn’t realize he had an angry mode. I think I’d always had him down as amusing-but-smug, whereas every time I’ve seen him outside of HIGNGY recently he comes across as one of the good guys.
Private Eye were one of the early publications who got behind this story and kept it alive
Apparently theres a sequel based on his son inheriting his struggle called Master Bates outside the Post Office
Hislop was good here but fucking hell I can’t stand Peston
Desperately trying to be quirky/eccentric; highly annoying character trait
Giv it Amazon till end of season
For someone that fought so valiantly for the rights of sub postmasters against their employer, it’s strange to me that he would then advocate for the bastion of workers’ rights, Amazon
One of the many reasons that the Post Office is in the mess it is is because all its profitable services have been hived off to the likes of Amazon. They only things left, such as mail delivery outside of towns and cities, lose money. Amazon wouldn’t want these, or they’d be in that market already.
Sorry but I don’t see how Paula Vennells can get away with this
What I don’t fully understand is: yes it was determined that Fujitsu had the ability to alter the balances remotely, but are they then implying that Fujistu were altering things maliciously? Why would Fujitsu want to fuck things up if the faults are with their own software?
Looking at sone of the Royal Mail senior staff testimony it looks like theres been a decision to have Vennels carry the can, to try to stop anything moving further up the chain.

For a Managing Director, this is a shocking admission
It’s a shocking admission and almost certainly a lie. That the Post Office has its own prosecution powers is very well known.
Its a fucking appalling failure of governance and the recruitment process if he’s somehow managed to get to be MD and hasn’t been asked questions re his fitness to be in charge of an organisation with that power, and hasn’t regularly been asked to maintain a register of interests to ensure he can carry on doing so.
Obviously a good thing to get an independent inquiry into this, but it means bugger all until consequences are dealt out to those who deserve them. As massively cynical as I usually am when it comes to corporate responsibility and justice, I presume this should make convictions of the arseholes responsible infinitely easier to achieve?
