What songs have been given an inflated importance over the years, compared to how they were received when they were released?
Hall & Oates’ You Make My Dreams is EVERYWHERE these days, featured in tonnes of films and adverts. I don’t remember the song being big before 500 Days of Summer- might just be me though.
Africa’s Toto is much bigger than it was when it came out, and it’s shite so stop kidding yourselves.
Man in the Mirror by Micko Jackson only reached 21 in the UK charts, which is a huge flop when you consider his usual chart placing, but after his death it became THE MJ anthem and ended up re-charting at number 2.
