I’m afraid I’m one of those traditional thread title/content gals.

It’s the “on toast” thread.

That said, we have had Cheese On Toast covered fairly well elsewhere.

Get some peany buzz on there, obviously

window regressive

Peanut butter and Beans - now there’s a new “on toast” combo for someone else to try

Or indeed Mushrooms and Peanut Butter, so as not to completely derail @laelfy’s thread.

Mushrooms anywhere other than the bin is totally unacceptable.

I like to put them in my mouth

What about on the ground, spotted during an autumnal woodland walk?

Ok ok this is not the thread for hot takes on mushrooms. I’m asking for recipe contributions not people sharing their failings.

I like to cook mushrooms in butter and then add pepper and that’s it.

When your dad forces a joke replacing the words ‘much room’ with ‘mushroom’ while preparing mushrooms

  • VERY funny
  • I don’t appreciate mushrooms or comedy

I’m looking for something a bit creamier than that but thanks for sharing your preference.

I have a fried field mushroom on buttered toast with garlic, rosemary and salt and pepper at least 3 times a week. It really do like it a lot

Nah, fuck em.

What kind of bread are you using for the toast, I feel that this might be important

Not a fan of creamy stuff, so I tend to fry them in butter with shallots and garlic. No salt.

How rude!

You don’t seem much of a Funghi to be around

Were I to be doing something creamier with them, I’d add cream and salt and parsley and probably would fry them in butter with garlic first

Sourdough toast with mushrooms diced up and cooked in butter with a bit of rosemary. Mainly go for chestnut mushrooms

Perfection.

You think anyone ever has ‘X Under Toast’?
