my strategy is normally to make a shortlist when the list of rounds goes up, and then change my mind a few hours before the submission deadline and play something I hadn’t previously thought about at all

Similar thing, but make notes on my Mac by searching my iTunes library.
I make a playlist of songs for the upcoming round, and just keep listening and shuttling it down until I get it down to one track for each round.
I still have a few options for the punctuation round - some with commas in them, or a couple with a question mark I think.
And a couple from the same artist for the protest round, but I’m kind of hoping I’ll find something else at the last round.
I like planning my lists in advance so that I can continue trying to make sure it’s got an even gender split - I’d probably end up doing a lot worse if I left my choice to the last minute.

I’m allowing commas, exclamation marks! Question marks? Hyphens - colons: semicolons; “double quotation marks,” apostro’phes and full stops. Think I’d look harshly on brackets without one of the above given the round closely follows the parenthesis round. I don’t think these: / \ | < > @ # & % ^ * are punctuation as much as they are just symbols.

what about brackets, braces and elipsis?
For me, brackets and braces (arguably) as used as punctuation would have been covered in this parenthesis round, so I’m hoping for something else here. As for ellipsis…

but parentheses are specifically, ( & ) and are not a name for, { & } nor [ & ]

Brackets are very common within written language. Sure, braces are usually only used in coding language, but they are still punctuation and distinct from parentheses.

Ok so I completely fucked up and joined this thing half way through. First time I didn’t even know voting was up until I saw an email but it was already too late, didn’t understand voting times and that it was a weekly thing blah blah. Anyway I think I got like 1 or 0 points. So then I figured it all out and joined the town/city round and now I’m all worried about it. Maybe I should just sit it out until the next league. I don’t think I’m placing anywhere, just in the middle. but I don’t want to upset anyone by coming in half way through this. I can just join the league next time if this is a problem and messes anything up.

Definitely don’t worry about joining in too late at all. It won’t cause any issues with the scoreboard. In fact, I’d welcome the opportunity to have one extra person below me on the scoreboard (until you inevitably overtake me)!

Quite annoyed that a song I really like has parentheses on the CD back cover but not on Spotify, so will ring some pedant alarms…
