makes sense, i’d not thought of it like that. guess my thinking’s been less about individual rounds, more the entire league, like it’ll all even out over the course of the league for each player. i like the bookmarking, too.

with the run out of points thing, wonder how much of it is what you’re saying, like ‘your song is near the end and i just gave 10 to the first 10 i liked’. was thinking it could also be another way of saying ‘your song is great but just not quite as great as these others’.

once i read ‘couldn’t be arsed scrolling back down to… so you can have the point’! so obviously i was lucky to be near the end, there.

I’m honestly so bored I might see if I can scrape apart the results and the playlists etc. I probably can’t, and will get bored very quickly, but as you can probably tell by the sheer volume of inane posts I’ve done ITT today, I’m having a quiet one.

Think thats why i find the whole kingmaking thing kinda tasteless as I refuse to believe out of 50+ songs with people who, in my opinion, have at least good/very good taste in music is just beyond my realms of comprehension

Obviously makes no difference if most of the time people listen to the first three songs then decide, and the number of times I’ve had people say “I would have given a point but I ran out” (about 3 or 4 which isn’t that many) just irks the part of me that is still competitive, in spite of me obviously not being very good at picking songs people will give points to.

when i post about running out of points it’s not necessarily songs at the bottom of the playlist, just means i’ve divvied them out to my my favourite 10 but i’ll comment that ones that fell just outside of that range have just missed out because i ran out of points. could well be the first song in the playlist that i ran out of points for.

only time i’ve given any song more than 1 point was in the number 1s round. couldn’t really be bothered trying to pick out 10 good ones if there even were that many, so i just went through and gave a couple of points to a handful of good tunes. even then i later realised i missed out Wuthering Heights cos i wasn’t paying attention properly.

occasionally there have been other rounds where i’m not feeling the playlist so much and i think i’ll probably only have a couple of tracks i want to give points to, but i always seem to end up finding 10 worthwhile tracks in the end.

To be fair there was a lot of instances the first round where people voted 10 within the first hour and it was a bit like ‘wow thats a total disregard of rules as far as im concered’ it hasnt been an issue this league

I’ve kingmade a couple times, I have a pretty set process for it though because this is incredibly serious stuff.

Before certain rounds I’ll make a short list of songs that I want to give all of my points to - typically an all-time song that has soundtracked a miserable period and/or an all-time song that I’m irrationally (rationally) defensive about.

• If multiple songs on the list end up on there, there’s probably not going to be kingmaking (this happened in the loud round with Goliath and Pink)
• If a great new discovery has me questioning whether I should stick to my list, it’ll probably pry off some points (unless it’s going up against say, an all-timer from the Pumpkins or Counting Crows)

Definitely have been listening to the whole playlist every time though and have been keeping a list of new albums to work through even if I didn’t get to vote for the song.

This was a pointless post.
