Well now I know about afrika bambata being a piece of shit!

I didn’t think that was ever in question - I’m never going to be the mainstream paulo!

Pretty chuffed with my first top 40 placement! :smiley:

I was expecting a couple of Public Enemy tracks to pop up which is why I steered clear of Nation of Millions to pick my favourite track from the debut instead, I was surprised to then be the only PE pick

But good to see a few people hadn’t heard it before. I don’t like picking something too widely known already, it’s the antithesis to how/why I play Music League

Thanks everyone, especially @Spen78 for my first kingmaker received, for the Stetsasonic love. Really pleased that for the second round in a row I’ve won with a song that is truly an all-time favourite.

Going to play it on repeat all day now.

Yeah, i’m surprised someone actually included him. I think what he did wasn’t reported that much outside of hip hop circles.

Well done everyone. Due to the tied points for 35th place there will be 12 rounds in league 3.

1st Place goes to @mrm

As he is not playing league 3 the prizes are distributed as so…

@octobadger pick 3 rounds and the league name.

@murder pick 2 rounds

@brightlight pick 1 round

@spen78 pick 1 round

@sleepingcapybara pick 1 round

@prob500 pick 1 round

@killerqueen and @kovacs77 finished in 35th Place! Pick 1 round each please.

Send me your choices by pm ASAP thanks.

Draw for the 12th round will take place when these rounds are finalised.

Absolutely amazed that I finished second in my first ever Music League! Ridiculous.

Well done @Octobadger for winning this round and the league and obviously the awesome and humble @mrm. @Brainfreeze I’ll send you my round ideas by the end of tomorrow.

Regarding this round, I was so happy when I discovered Big Daddy Kane. To be honest, I was pretty scared about this round and so did loads of searching around, trying to find lost classics, when I found MF DOOM had sampled the “Aw shit!” from this track on Potholderz. I checked out Ain’t No Half-Steppin’, loved it, and saw that he was a bit of a pioneer, so decided to go for it. So glad people loved it as well!

I’ll get to thinking about my two rounds, which is utterly weird. I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and look forward to future rounds and the league. However, whilst I loved doing this league, I will be a bit more hands off for the next league. I will participate in rounds when I can, but due to work and family commitments remerging from the gradual easing of lockdown, it will be very difficult for me to take part to the same degree. But as I said, I will take part when I can.

However, I would like to finish by saying a great thank you to everyone who’s taken part in this league, because if you’ve introduced at least one person out there to a tune you love over these eleven rounds, and they loved it too, that’s the whole point really.

Glad to have a little rest from listening to playlists for a few days or so, but at the same really eager to know what the new rounds are and get choosing my picks.

Such is Music League

Equal points to 3rd with Express Yourself but just missed the podium due to one fewer number of voters! Pleased with that result though considering I know sweet FA about 80’s rap.

And surprised and pleased to have made the top 10 of the League with 9th place. This has been a huge amount of fun!

Good round. Almost gave 10 points to Beastie Boys - Shadrach, but there’s a lot of great tracks so I couldn’t.

Almost went with this…

But really should have gone with this, but I think it’s 1990? Love how mellow and blissful it is.

Updated league 1 and 2 picks

Wand - Melted Rope (2015)
Truckers of Husk - Psycho Billy (2011)
Mikal Cronin - Apathy (2011)
And So I Watch You From Afar - Set Guitars to Kill (2009)
Lankum - Willow Garden (2017)
Dusted - Property Lines (2012)
Holy Fuck - P.I.G.S. (2010)
Public Enemy - You’re Gonna Get Yours (1987)

All those bangers and still finished 44th

Well done everyone, I came 8th so just outside of the spots to choose a round for the next league which means that if anyone picks a subject for a round that I don’t think is brilliant you will all be hearing from me*

*This probably won’t happen… probably.

I entered literally the only 80s rap song I can think of that probably wouldn’t have been picked by anyone else so I’m pretty happy with the 4 points for Band of Jocks (and this fever dream of a video). Contrary to all the other rappers rapping about rapping they’re actually rapping about DJing (and some other stuff, but mostly DJing).
