This one’s going to be really interesting with the well known vs. unknown scoring thing.
With the exception of the 2011 and birthday rounds all my entries so far have either been from before 1985 or after 2018, so it looks like most of the artists I like either hadn’t started recording yet or had already stopped. Going to have to get creative.

I chose 1997 as it was my GCSE year so I am torn between a LOT of songs and albums that were world changing for teenage me. In short, a nightmare to choose but entirely my fault!

i don’t have as much obscure music from 1997 as i do from later years so it’s hard thinking of non obvious stuff here. got one or two ideas in mind though.

Yep, I’ve got a few definite selections from 1998. I know of two great albums, but they’re both by artists who’ve already been selected a couple of times, so I must try better than that. Will check my computer.

What about a song from 1997, that was cut from the album and only eventually only released in it’s 1997 format on a 20th anniversary release of the original 1997 release?

I’m saying absolutely fine as 97. It was available to buy and hear in 97…
In fact, you can, of course, ask the opposite question:
Can I still have it if it came out on an album in 96 but as a single in 97?

No - if it was released on an album in 96 - it’s a song from 96.
97 album track released as a single in 98 fine, as long as you use the album version.
Most of the more obscure tracks I think of aren’t on Spotify, think I’m going to have to risk something obvious for this.
