If you’ve seen a link to this thread with no other context, it’s probably because someone is trying to encourage you to use a link sharing aggregation service rather than share a single platform link (e.g. Spotify) directly.
Having the discussion about these services in one thread with links to the ones which work best can be useful for reference whenever necessary.
Seems good to me too so far.
I’m also happy to have the album name/artist appear again in the preview so that I can copy and paste it for any potentially tricky names to type out!
I think I’ve switched from the link aggregator opinion to just sticking with Spotify. I like the previews on Spotify now that they’re smaller (and hopefully causing less problems in the thread). Plus the extra work of going to a separate site to paste in a spotify link to get another link… for an album that won’t get many people checking it out anyway… especially on busy music days, feels a bit too much of a faff for me now I’m afraid!
The search might be broken? I find that exact matches are coming up with nothing, but if I intentionally put a spelling mistake in there, the results appear
I’ve done the same for Qobuz with Odesli, but they got bought out by Linktree in 2021, so I can’t imagine that sort of integration is going to rank highly in their feature requests, since they’re focused more on the creator than the consumer.
I tend to use Songlink now for sharing but I have to say I’ve enjoyed when people are sharing direct Spotify links now as it gives you a history of what links you have shared between you.
E.g. when I clicked one of @paulo’s links in the current release thread I can see albums that ive clicked his link or vice versa going back to 2021, which is a nice touch:
