I use a demo version of Ableton and a bit of hardware stuff I’ve accumulated gradually over the course of a decade or so. Started out mucking around with samples / any recordings I made / found sound of the internet on Goldwave (similar to Audacity, which is free).
I envy my younger self’s ability to make any old bizarre thing with no consideration of quality
