Brainbombs. A bit late to the party here. They truly are horrible.

Yep. Just as good as the other two, imo. Three solid, really interesting albums.

I love Desperate Youth…

Friends have recommended TVOTR for sometime but just never got round to it until now - love how scuzzy bass/drums it is

Polanski is a good 65dos side project if you can track that down…

Which white denim stuff you been getting into? They’re the best

That’s a tricky one because MWC has a fairly consistent style - fantastic if lacking a little bit of variation.
Of the one’s I’ve heard, I’d start with Somewhere A Fox Is Getting Married from 2011. Bang in the middle of MWC’s discography.

It sounds as if the later releases are slightly more techy, the earlier ones more hip-hop, and the beats all sound homemade. The dominant style is hauntological - full of eeries sounds, disembodied voices, library music and film/TV samples. It’s also playful in a way that a lot of Ghost Box stuff isn’t.

Probably the big one is I finally dag into the Stars of the Lid. Who are of course amazing. Started listening to dEUS as well. But due to the nature of the year little else. Got much deeper in to Spacemen 3s stuff though. You know all the bootlegs and all that.

Really digging “D” and the new one.

Yeah D is my favourite. I reckon Corsicana Lemonade is better than the new one while being a similar style. Also check out Last Day Of Summer for a more mellow acoustic driven thing, some really great songs on there. And if you can see them live it’s just non stop chooglin jams

Also just remembered, the singer had a pretty great solo record out as Bop English, which all the band plus others played on.

Ok, thanks!

Chris Issak and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone

I’d never really listened to Misfits before this year, so they were probably my biggest discovery and most played band (in track count, not duration, gotta love a snappy sub 2 min banger).

Started discovering ambient this year and been quite heavily immersing myself in it of late (in both senses of the word). Some big ones have been

Stars of the Lid - And the refinement…
Tim Hecker - harmony in ultraviolet and love streams
Brian Eno - apollo
Aphex - SAW (been a fan of Aphex Twin for years, but never had chance to listen to SAW I/II before)

Also been exploring and enjoying some of the big minimalist classical names like Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Nils Frahm more this year too.

Nice. I will check out both albums and Bop English. I discovered them at festival this summer. I had heard them before on the radio, over the years but seeing them live really made them click.

Does anyone recognize the top right record, with the green and yellow lines?
