I’ve been listening to Mogwai a lot lately and have only today clocked that they’re big spiritualized / spacemen 3 fans
This is a trad song isn’t it?
Aye but it sounds very much in the lane of what Jason Pierce likes to do. Plus at another stage on that soundtrack they use the tremolo + distortion thing that Spacemen 3 used all the time
And there also is the cover that Ella posted
Funny how Mogwai are likely way more commercially successful than Spiritualized these days. You’d think the band with more traditional songs would be the popular one!
For a worrying chunk of my life, I thought yer man was singing “Secret Asian man” instead of “Secret agent man”.
He came up doing MTV commercials, what a journey.
Just did an unexpected loud snort laugh at this
Similarly, it boggles my mind that Ridley Scott was doing ads
I believe directing ads > directing music videos > directing films is a pretty normal career path for filmmakers. Not sure how true that is now mind.
In California Love (which came out when i was about 14), they’re not singing ‘In the city, the city of culture’.
Compton. It’s the city of Compton. Because obviously.
26 years, that took me.
That whole generation of British directors started out making ads - people like Adrian Lynn, Alan Parker, Tony Scott
Had no idea until reading @Icarus-Smicarus post in the gig thread that Rozi Plain was part of This is the Kit
She Sends Kisses by The Wrens wasn’t a single. For some reason I’d always assumed that was the big single from The Meadowlands.
For a worrying chunk of mine I thought that was what Blink-182 sang when they sang “What’s my age again” in the chorus of, er, What’s My Age Again
One for Bad Boy Chiller Crew?
In Sister Sledge’s We Are Family, she’s singing “just let me state for the record” not “just let me staple the record”
I always wondered what people wanted to staple vinyls for
Damien Hirst was in the band Fat Les.
