This is incorrect. Who here is a Pledger?

If you’re going to dismiss someone’s comment and say they’re wrong, could you try and explain why?

Wasn’t someone on here going to do an extensive write up of this whole debacle?

Which bit’s incorrect, that it is the second album proper or that it’s not album session outtakes?

I’m not saying outtakes can’t be good, sometimes they’re just as good if not better than stuff on the main album. But it’s true a lot of bands put those out as deluxe ed bonus discs/downloads.

shivers

But the Beastie Boys did release Hot Sauce Committee pt.2 first.

Alice, did you just delete my comment on Facebook?

Man, I really want to know what attachment they sent you that you can’t get.

not sure how responding via message to a post/comment works, so maybe it came with a link back to whatever snarky comment i made that they deleted.

It would be really futuristic to imagine them just letting all the pledgers have MP3s of the album straight away while they wait for the CDs to arrive.

I mean no one’s ever done that before, eh?

jesus!

Was that the one where you asked about selling the guitars for their actual value (say about a third)? Was it that one?

I’ve literally never heard of them or this whole thing.

Is it facebook related? I bet its facebook related.

yeah… didn’t think appearing in a video 15-odd years ago warranted such a mark up

The whole thing is an elaborate trolling of a fanbase via the medium of pledgemusic. It’s really quite enthralling. I can heartily recommend you re-reading the original thread. Numbers will be penning the exposé

As can I, here’s a link to it: http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4432394

First post is from June 25th 2013! For comparison, in that time Future of The Left have released two albums and two/three eps through pledgemusic, while touring extensively and giving honest informative updates.

The band stated that the timeline was not definitive. Only 10 refunds have been ever requested. The majority of Pledgers have been very supportive, and understood the bands position.

"As this Pledge passes 500% and we approach the last days of this campaign, we want to thank you all for your loyalty, patience and support. We are truly blessed to have you!

The mechanics of how a Pledge campaign works means that the artist will be out of pocket for all of the budget until completion, so it has been in the bands interest to work as quickly as possible too.
But with the lion’s share of what’s traditionally a whole team’s work being done by 1 or 2 individuals, and at a fraction of the cost, it’s not really a surprise that it would take longer than the usual 2 year cycle.

Needless to say, the cost of the album went way over this budget – and took much longer than we’d hoped – but those who have been with us for long know it’s never really been an economics exercise, and more a labour of love. And yes – it has been worth all the "blood, sweat & tears”. As this was an artistic endeavour without a knowable timeline, and as we still wanted to give you the best possible we could within the restraints, we left full refunds open for those who didn’t want to wait any longer. However we’re so pleased to say less than 1% did so. In fact only 10 refunds were requested. So thank you! For being so empathetic and really understanding our position. When considering the industry climate – and the alternative of not making music at all, it has been a case of better late than never.

Thanks for supporting us, you’ve kept us making music. We can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve done!
