The mechanics of how a Pledge campaign works means that the artist will be out of pocket for all of the budget until completion, so it has been in the bands interest to work as quickly as possible too.
But with the lion’s share of what’s traditionally a whole team’s work being done by 1 or 2 individuals, and at a fraction of the cost, it’s not really a surprise that it would take longer than the usual 2 year cycle.
Needless to say, the cost of the album went way over this budget – and took much longer than we’d hoped – but those who have been with us for long know it’s never really been an economics exercise, and more a labour of love. And yes – it has been worth all the "blood, sweat & tears”. As this was an artistic endeavour without a knowable timeline, and as we still wanted to give you the best possible we could within the restraints, we left full refunds open for those who didn’t want to wait any longer. However we’re so pleased to say less than 1% did so. In fact only 10 refunds were requested. So thank you! For being so empathetic and really understanding our position. When considering the industry climate – and the alternative of not making music at all, it has been a case of better late than never.
