Thibs is gone
oh, did you guys want that?
I think people are fairly split. I’m not an expert on the Knicks fanbase and reddit isn’t the best source really, but I think people feel that the following is probably true:
- Thibs has assembled a great 6-man rotation
- Thibs never used his bench and put way too many minutes on his 6-man rotation
- Thibs probably gets out coached at times against clever offensive and defensive plays. He’s quite old school and relatively simple (put the ball in Brunson’s hands)
We probably didn’t lose the ECF due to Thibs, but we lacked bench alternatives when Mitch wasn’t able to play big minutes, was constantly at the FT line, and also KAT struggled defensively against the dynamic offense of the Pacers. Even if we had a better bench I doubt Thibs would have used it.
I wonder who’s favourite to take the job, as they inherit a great team who with some tweaks and good coaching could continue to take a step forward.
It sounds like Michael Malone is odds on to get the job. Funnily enough, he doesn’t trust his bench either.
I don’t think the Knicks are a particularly great team, and a new coach won’t move the needle much.
all fair points. I defs noticed a crazy amount of Brunson iso, and he really painted himself into a corner with how small the rotation got
I mean, especially against the Pacers, and they’d have gotten smoked by OKC with their ridiculous depth
So who we got in the finals? Can’t see past OKC in 5, maybe 6 at a stretch.
OKC with the gentleman’s sweep
reckon Indy will get a home win
Poor Thibs, good coach but the guy is just allergic to the NBA Finals. If they go after Danny Hurley I’ll be upset.
So will Knick fans.
Now it’s looking like they will try to pry Udoka away from Houston. This would be a great move, but I assume Houston would put up a hell of a fight to keep him.
The other hijack option is Jason Kidd who I’m less enamored with.
(almost) a buzzer beater to win game one on the road, and no “BANG!”, let alone a double “BANG!”. Cmon Mike Breen, what are we doing here?
fascinating match-up
Pacers have the depth of cold-blooded clutch buckets to match up to the depth of elite defenders OKC have
Sacking thibs and not having it locked in that you’re getting your first or second choices.
What I’ve heard is that they’ve invested a lot in trading for Bridges, and ditching Thibs is key to re-signing him.
Yeah bill simmons said this on one of his pods. Makes sense
It’s looking like the tide has finally turned in the finals. If J-Dub is going to play like a young LeBron again then it’s all over. Likewise for Haliburton in the opposite direction.
