Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra is 102 and he’s still going. He regularly toured internationally until a few years ago, and apparently still performs if the Arkestra are playing near Philadelphia. Released his debut solo album last year!

‘Ragged Glory’ is a great record and also one of the great album titles…totally sums up Neil Young & Crazy Horse in two words.

175 bucks for floor seats christ! But Neil with Willies boys (Chrome Hearts), should be some great collabs. Ironically, we are doing demo just outside the theater in Bridgeport. Heard Rod Stewart sound checking the other day, time to hang them up Hot Rod.

2026 has been my year for discovering Neil Young (properly). I’ve always loved On The Beach** ever since my dad bought me the CD back when I was about 11 (alongside Sticky Fingers, Nebraska and some Rush album). But this year I chose to get into the discography properly…and he’s just so fantastic, I can’t express it. After the Gold Rush, Zuma, Tonight’s the Night, Harvest (Moon didn’t land as strongly), Ragged Glory, Rust Never Sleeps…and I’ve barely got going.
** always particularly loved Revolution Blues but never knew the subject matter. Should’ve really guessed from the brilliant ending couplet:
“I hear that Laurel Canyon is full of famous stars,
but I hate them worse than lepers, and I’ll kill them in their cars”

You’re going to lose it when you hit Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. One of the best rock albums ever recorded.

First bit of weighty Neil vinyl. I have the 50th anniversary pressing of Harvest which was a present, but apart from that that I only have a couple of older records (Gold Rush and Rust Never Sleeps)
Got it for £44 delivered, has a slight dent on one of the rear corners that would press out. The vinyl (4 discs are all sealed in individual sleeves and it comes with a double CD and a DVD). Very lovely thing indeed.

Neil Young delighted fans with a classic career-spanning set at Hop Farm Festival yesterday (July 6).
Dressed in a paint-splattered jacket and jeans, Young launched in the opener ‘Love and Only Love’ from his 1990 album Ragged Glory before playing an extended version of ‘Hey Hey My My’.
Young then surprised fans with a rendition of ‘I’ve Been Waiting For You’, from his first album before playing ‘Spirit Road’ and a furious ‘Fuckin’ Up’.
Switching to acoustic guitar midway through the set, Young played favourites from his 1972 classic Harvest including ‘Old Man’, ‘Heart Of Gold’ and ‘The Needle And The Damage Done’.
“I don’t play this very often. I don’t know why…” said Young.
For his encore, Neil Young performed an unexpected cover of The Beatles ‘A Day In The Life’.

It’s really good. Hard to say given how many are out there, but I think it might be the best ‘Like a Hurricane’ version released officially.
if they’d played Powderfinger that night it would be the best Neil Young live record of them all
