It’s up next! Will give a listen this afternoon

I mentioned it in the HGATR results thread but try and listen to the Eldorado EP from just before Freedom. It’s so good.

Would be keen. Two thirds of the way through Shakey right now. Innaresting. Plenty of gaps in his discography to fill for me.

Yea, i reckon it would be good to discuss it as part of the canon. It’s where it’s heart is.

I’m so excited to hear it and its so close

I’d be into it. Would need a lot of stamina on your part to get through to the end!

Yeah I’m having second thoughts already haha. I’ll let it simmer a couple of weeks until ‘HomeGrown’ comes out and see where it goes from there! Thanks all!

lightweight.

safetywink

would totally be in for this, btw

Old man look at his life. He needs to see he’s done enough to win the World over

I’m in no matter what is decided… but another option is a Neil Young poll. Everyone submits ballots for top 20-30 songs and top 8-10 albums and then we roll out the results. the listening threads are great but hard to keep the energy and enthusiasm up for the better part of a year which this would take lol. altho looks like neil has plenty of fans on here so it could keep the momentum idk. anyway i could run the poll or help run the poll ive done them before.

Awesome man, that probably sounds like a much better idea in retrospect. With just Neil solo studio records, live releases, soundtracks and compilation records it would take over a year of our time if we rolled out one a week lol. This doesn’t include any archive releases, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY ha.

So yeah I think this would be much more feasible and can still give avid listeners a nice chance to revisit and rediscover some true gems.

Have at it man! Let me know if I can help.

Cool. Though if you want to keep the listening thread manageable, could you concentrate on his classic opening run of albums, and slip in the new one for a bit of freshness. ie
Neil Young
Everybody Knows
Gold Rush
Harvest
On the Beach
Homegrown
Tonight’s the Night
Zuma

That’s arguably the best run of albums by anyone ever and would last a couple of months and cover all his styles?

This is a good idea, but I’d say more like 15 albums? Otherwise we’ll just end up with the usual suspects and some catalogue gems will get overlooked - the list @carnivalboy has above this one is missing three of my top five NY records, for example

well up for some good shakey polling

Let’s let the people decide:

  • Neil Young listening club
  • Neil Young poll (campaigning then voting then roll out top 15 albums and top 50-60 songs)

0 voters

Whoa we’re deadlocked 20 votes in… let’s get some more

Just pushed it into the cursed ratio
