Hmmn…Ragged Glory (obviosuly), and erm…Freedom and Harvest Moon? Maybe Mirror Ball? Something later like Silver and Gold?

Oh god, I can’t remember. Definitely Ragged Glory, almost certainly Mirrorball, and then either Harvest Moon or Sleeps With Angels, depending what mood I was in. Unless I’d allowed myself live albums, in which case add Unplugged, Filmore East, and Weld to the mix…

Thats the thing - he’s such an interesting artist i don’t think its worth missing stuff out as everything is worth a listen and discussion.

I’d want re-actor, trans, sleeps with angels to name just three which haven’t gone in yet!

and live… Massey hall, filmore, weld

We should just go all in (easy to say when i’m not @NeilYoung having to organise it

I’m late to this thread, but currently going through a Neil obsession.

I’ve been listening to a podcast that is going through all the CSNY releases year by year, but in a fairly entertaining way. Its called ‘So Far’, and its a side-project by the people who do The Best Show (Tom Scharpling and co). http://thebestshow.net/episode/so-far-episode-zero-pre-csn/

I joined up to the archives the other day, and saw the video of him playing Harvest surrounded by his chickens. Now i’m just waiting for the ‘cinema’ in the app to be showing Journey Through the Past, which i now have to see after hearing about it on the podcast!!

Well, I guess if we do it in chronological order, there is no need to stop if things are going well…although I don’t know how many people will be able to keep it going through the eighties. I will try.

We are going to do the whole kit and kaboodle folks, why not, including live releases. I’ll get it situated this weekend and we will pump the first one out this upcoming Monday, June the 15th, just to wet our whistles to get excited for ‘Homegrown’ coming out that Friday.

One album a week, coming out every Monday. Looking forward to spending the next couple of years with you folks. :grinning:

Just spotted this thread. V. up for listening club. Have fallen in love with a handful of his albums (Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, After the Gold Rush, Zuma and On the Beach) in the last few years. Don’t know much of his other stuff at all, other than Harvest.

Getting near the end of Shakey now. Great book and doesn’t read anything like as heavily as the detail it goes in to would suggest. Can’t escape the sense that in some ways he is (was?) a pretty massive prick in the way he treated people, but I guess he does at least acknowledge and own some of that behaviour. Don’t think his Republican politics would have got him many friends on 80s DiS! Interesting how folk like him are viewed in the long-term and seen as generally a GBOL when some of the stuff he said would’ve seen him ‘cancelled’ now.

This is going to be tremendous

For live releases, should we do the year it was performed or the year it came out on record? For instance ‘Live at Massey Hall’ was performed in 1971, but not released via record off his archives until 2007. Let’s poll it.

  • Year performed
  • Year released on record

I’ve been listening to his ‘Silver & Gold’ album from 2000. I remember buying it on cd when it was released, kind of liking it, then forgetting about it. ‘Razor Love’ is one of the most beautiful songs he’s recorded.

Its a brilliant release that late in his career imo. Love the track ‘Buffalo Springfield Again’ off that record.
