I usually copy the Mercury Prize criteria, but this year it’s not July to July bit instead the eligibility criteria says:
Saturday 13 July 2024 and Friday 29 August 2025 inclusive (although entries must be received by Wednesday 25 June 2025)
Obviously none of us have access to albums out between now and end of August, so we have two options
- Include albums from 13th July 2024 - 13th July 2025
- Wait and do the same time period as Mercurys
- Don’t care, do whatever you want

If we do July 13th, I suggest the following timeline:
- July 20th-31st: Submit longlist nominee submissions
- August 1st-11th: I go through all the submitted albums to curate a shortlist
- August 12th: Shortlist revealed at 9am in http://drownedinsound.org newsletter and voting begins on the forums at noon
- September 16th: Voting closes & Winner Announced (1 month before Mercury Prize and a couple of weeks before DiS turns 25)
If we were to do August 29th as the cut off for releases, I guess we could open the submissions for longlist before the 29th and have a week to submit any 29th August releases on Sunday 7th September? And have a bit of a shorter timeline for voting for voting or announce the day before Mercury prize??
