The Pharoah Sanders’ album is absolutely gorgeous. I’m not someone who’s particularly spiritual but I really felt his spirituality emanate through his playing and the arrangements. A beautiful reissue.
The National - Laugh Track
Surprise new album - a companion piece to the one they released in April and recorded in the same sessions. Features Phoebe Bridgers and Bon Iver.
Nobody mentioned this? The greatest band of all time right now.
The Beths deluxe-ing last year’s album.
Ach I think Vega Intl Night School is a full blown classic and I just don’t like this in the slightest
Really liked this one, thanks! I liked the last Paddy Hanna album, but didn’t have this on my radar / didn’t know about this band.
Separately, I’m not keen on Vagabon’s new pop route. I really liked her last album, but not clicking with her new sound unfortunately.
First album’s quite good too but they’ve gone a bit odder / more Talking Heads on this new one which I really like.
Their early singles were a bit more guitar based and sound a bit more like Paddy’s solo stuff, like those a lot too. Looking forward to finally seeing them next month after I kept accidentally missing them pre-covid.
This is superb. Totally sounds like the cover art and is so far up my street it isn’t funny.
Yup. Listened to this today and it’s brilliant. Rare that I find a new ambient album I know I’ll listen to more than a couple of times.
The Rachel Sermanni album is excellent - looking forward to giving it a few more plays.
Sparklehorse, James Blake and The Chemical Brothers were last week’s top 3.
I had a lot going on this week so barely listened to anything new. What did you enjoy?

Extremely minor complaint: the band is called Small Crush and the album is called Penelope.
And it is the best thing released this week
I will one day read the thread rules.
Read them AND understand them?
Sorry, been a full-on week and didn’t have time for usual quality control or including the artist and title if they weren’t already written in that format in the thread.
No regerts
that would explain why I had to laugh at this band name
Only just got round to the Kaya North album today. Thanks for posting. Really enjoying the eerie, menacing atmosphere of it all.
Ooops. Wrong week
