New DiS article: How musicians became 'creators'

One of the bits of feedback in the recent reader survey was creating a thread for each piece DiS publishes so people can discuss it, so giving it a try with this one. Maybe a bit different to my usual newsletters but I was overheated and went with trying to wrestle my morning rage into something that distils a lot of my frustrations at the moment with the word “content” and the way we’re allowing platform-owning billionaires to set the norms.

Also, I’m not sure what word I used that offended the gmail & apple spam filters, but several people have informed me this review of NIN went into their junk. If you could check your junk folders and mark it as “not junk” that would be absolutely amazing.

I absolutely despise the word ‘content’. So demeaning. It reduces everything to disposable timeline mulch.

Mulch is the word I reaching for yesterday but couldn’t remember

I liked glooooooop as it feels like Augustus Gloop meets Aphex Twin and that weird putty you had as a kid that come take the print off newspapers and bounce around (like a low budget version of Flubber)
