New Fever Ray?

Shaking the Habitual was album of the decade. It’s got the best bits of The Knife on it. Raging Lung doing that thing the best albums do where absolute confidence is matched by absolute brilliance.

I’VE GOT A STORY THAT MONEY JUST CAN’T BUY

it’s not as good as s/t, but that’s ok because hardly any albums ever will be
better than that one from a few years ago which sadly doesn’t exist, sad when good musicians make albums that dont exist

Came to STH on my listen through - always liked it but probably admired it more than I enjoyed it.

Realised I haven’t listened in years and fucking hell it’s fantastic! Suspect my tastes have shifted towards more abstract / ambient stuff quite heavily since it came out and I’m no longer pining for a proper sequel to Silent Shout so could take it on its own terms.

The lyrics occasionally come across as more essay than songs and its length doesn’t do it many favours, but it is actually a genuinely great record and one I will be spending more time with than I did when it came out.

Recommend a re-visit to anyone who bounced off it first time. Just don’t expect a normal Knife album - it very much stands alone.

Since we’re posting sinister videos from Silent Shout - this is an all timer (also my entry point into their world, so close to my heart)

Genuinely one of my ten, twenty favourite songs ever.

Even it out is the best song followed by Shiver

A proper “what the fuck is this? This is amazing - I didn’t know music could do this” level track when I first heard it. Love it.

OK, I’ll relisten tomorrow for real

Thought I’d rank all the main The Knife/Fever Ray albums from worst to best…

The Knife - Self titled
Fever Ray - Plunge
The Knife - Deep Cuts
The Knife - Shaking the Habitual
Fever Ray - Radical Romantics
Fever Ray - Self Titled
The Knife - Silent Shout

Placement of Radical Romantics is still tbd for me but everything else looks in its place.

Does anybody else think this is sounding even more fucking brilliant than last week?

Yeah for sure. I really like the final track a lot more too.

Yeah, class album.
I like the last track too.

With Even It Out, after hearing the refrain of CUT CUT CUT CUT their son’s bully must be shitting himself :grinning:

That scene in Tar, but with Karin Dreijer instead of Cate Blanchett

Gothenburg venue seems to either be in some sort of industrial wasteland or I’ve somehow gone 40 years back in time. Perhaps both. Got an hour until doors open, there is nothing here and it’s pissing down :upside_down_face:
