Yep, sounds like late era PollardBV

as expected it’s largely decent but way too long with lots of disposable stuff in the second half in particular. a handful of particularly strong tracks, mainly the singles, some nice production but no real all time greats on this one. could probably have made for a solid enough single album. his voice isn’t quite strong enough to carry some of the less interesting tracks on his own like he used to

think Space Gun from last year holds up quite well overall, will probably remain the best of reunion 2.0 (which they seem to be aware of with their decision to not distract from it with any more releases last year) and the title track is a certified banger. haven’t gone back to the 2017 albums much really other than a couple of standout tracks.

interestingly the next two albums due this year are an album of 24 really short songs, including the two recent EPs (presumably a bit like Universal Truths - the pro lineup trying to emulate the classic lineup) and an album of 12 longer, ‘proggier’ songs described as being more ‘solid’ (like Earthquake Glue?)

wonder if they’ll be any good

Agree with a lot of that, aye. I think some of the tracks on here are overlong - so cutting a few of the landfill moments to get it down to a single album would’ve been good I reckon. There are def some good tracks in there. I think Rally Boys is the best single they’ve done since Keep It In Motion. Some real good Doug guitar sounds on here too

I have the first 2 EP’s that make up 12 of the 24 songs on the short songs album and I really like them. So that one might end up being my favorite, I like that style of GBV lots of short catchy songs. Haven’t really had a chance to delve into ZOC yet, but what I’ve heard I have liked.

Earthquake Glue is my least favorite GBV record I’ve heard, so not to pumped for that one.

But by the end of they year they will have released best part of 70 songs , so I cant complain, I’llust make a best of the GBV in 2019 album.

listened to Winecork Stonehenge at work a few weeks ago and it didn’t grab me at the time but i just gave 100 Dougs a listen tonight and it’s pretty decent actually.

quite like the artwork for the next 2 EPs, bit less half arsed. might be a good sign.
