I didn’t really want to let this self-deprecating comment pass, sorry kw.

There are plenty of very good reasons not to want to impact your MH with the heavier threads but you shouldn’t let yourself think along these lines (‘intelligence’) about yourself. You’re very obviously intelligent enough for any of these discussions and many of them are pretty juvenile when all’s said and done no matter how serious the thread title might seem.

Clearly some users are better read on certain topics than the rest of us, although whether you necessarily need to defer to them is obviously specific to what’s being discussed.

Gotta say, I’ve not had a great experience in heavier threads. People get told to “learn X” before posting and are spoken down to for having an opinion. There was very recently that awful thread having a pop at Bammers for asking questions.

I only post in politics threads when there’s something brilliantly shit happening like the crybaby-seven right now. ,:grin:

Aye. I know of others that’ve said similar to you/kermie in the past as well. I think as with much of DiS the tone of them is improving, there’s still at times a bit of an attitude of “go do your homework, then come back” which is a bit unfair… not everyone’s as good at Googling as Marckee :wink:

I don’t think @sadpunk is referring to your post yesterday - rather stuff more in lines with some of the times that Bam’s been piled on for asking the kind of questions he did this morning or making the broad statements he sometimes does. I can think of a couple of other users that’s happened to.

Thought your a/s post was well on point - I was toying over whether to just tell that individual to fuck off or not at the time.

Yep, wasn’t referring to a specific post and not seen the one DB mentions. More a general theme I’d picked up of “don’t post about x if you don’t understand it” or “you clearly don’t understand this thing we’re talking about” which just sits badly with me.

FWIW I don’t have any problem with short shrift given to someone being a nob about oppression. I’d hope some counterpoints were offered first if they weren’t just being a bell, but otherwise - fuck 'em.
