Part 2 isn’t so much of a follow up but a very personal biographical break up album that directly references lost wisdom as sort of reinvestigation of those ideas ‘lets get out of the romance’ is recontextualised. Its a very beautiful painful album but very literal and completely different then Lost Wisdom.
It has much more in common with Now Only.
First one I got into, still think of it as my favourite of his (only Wind’s Poem might have come close, I think).
They’re all great, but No Flashlight is probably my favourite. It was the first Mount Eerie album I really got into. Also really like Clear Moon & Ocean Roar. Caught a full band live show around the time they came out and it was unreal.
This thread is such a joy, seeing the range of favourites. He’s consistently so excellent, it’s great to see these current songs take shape after his London gig last year, and come together in one of this year’s finest records.
Pleased to see this shout out for Clear Moon and Ocean Roar. I also saw him around that time at St Giles in the Field church, and he played most of Clear Moon, wonderful gig!
I tend to prefer Mount Eerie, I find with the Microphones that the songwriting and the sonic experiments jar a lot less comfortably in a way that’s sometimes charming but sometimes can make those records a bit of a chore

No relation to mount eerie however I discovered this from a Lebanese artist that was released a couple years ago and seems to have had no mention on DiS and think it would be of interest to any fan of Mount Eerie, sounds roughly somewhere between The Glow Pt2 and The Antlers’ Hospice. Chock full of delicious hooks too.
