Hip Hop inflected British jazz from Alfa Mist
pretty great so far!
Nice ep of atmospheric piano stuff. A bit max richter in places I guess? But more interesting as I find him pretty dull.
me too May have to wait until it gets dark though!
3 new tracks added to a deluxe edition of Bicep’s Isles:
New Paysage d’Hiver
The new Spectral Lore album is also out. The other half of the massive split with Mare Cognitum from last year that was in my top 5, looking forward to checking this one!
New Kiefer. Jazzy keyboard led beats. Big fan.
Looking forward to spinning the new Alfa Mist too.
Some good reviews for the new Tom Jones album, mostly (all maybe?) covers, gospelly bluesy pop with some spooky instrumentation (moogs about).
Liance - This Painting Doesn’t Dry
Came out on Wednesday. Not listened yet mind.
Lady Dan - I Am The Prophet
FFO Julia Jacklin maybe.
Sufjan has another synth record out, revelations this time.
Maxwell Sterling - Turn of Phrase
Avant garde techno baroque, FFO Clark
Art d’Ecco - In Standard Definition
Bit of glam art-punk.
Well that all sounds good.
Loved it on first listen. Well worth checking out imo
Simon Goff - Vale
Explorations of the interface between violin and technology from a chap who worked with Hildur Guðnadóttir on the Grammy winning Chernobyl score.
Spanish post pop punk or something? Very addictive and sounds a bit like a a 60s/70s all girl pop group with a bit of a edge. Real good band.
found the one slice of afrogroove in the world which @Octobadger missed! Cool kologo stuff from Ghana. Digging the almost poppy vocals on this, and the production sounds great too. And then there’s that insistent one-string kologo thrumming a pulse through everything. Good for your health.
In case you missed this on Monday. Ska version of his album
Surely an all female Steely Dan tribute act (I would definitely listen to that)
