New music 8/5

I’ve never given them a go as the band name is almost identical my band’s name many years ago. I’m going to grow up and get over that today! What do you think - start with their first?

As I said, I really liked the first, but it isn’t for everyone. Sort of a bit M83/Beach House/shoegaze lite. Gave the second a few listens back in 2014 but it didn’t click then.

Well clerical error or no I finished listening to it before I saw this and it’s lovely  love the first track

Thanks! Another drum-heavy ‘ambient’ collection…

There’s a reissue of an album produced by Brian Eno by Edikanfo out today as well.

I’ve added Tijuana Panthers, Mogwai, Magic Drum Orchestra, Booka Shade and Mark Lanegan to my listen to list this morning - might get round to them.

Had a listen to the new Little Simz EP and it was ok.

Excited for this - loved both their previous two :+1:

New Modern Studies is lovely. Maybe slightly more subtle than “a glorious compendium of haunted disco hallelujahs, mercurial krautrock chorales, cosmic pop adagios and euphoric, resilient, anthems” makes it sound, but lovely nonetheless.

Hailee Steinfeld EP:

Another new Mark Lanegan today. Reviews suggest a return to form after his last album being a disappointment.
Thoroughly enjoying his autobiography also.

Couple more I forgot were out today:

Choir Boy - 80s influenced, nostalgic dark-pop on Dais Records (such an incredible band):

Adeline Hotel - lovely, lilting country-folk-rock record (features Brigid Mae Power among others):

Didn’t even listen to Lanegan’s last album as Gargoyle was really disappointing. Checking out the new one now to see if it is ‘a return to form’.

I will check out I Break Horses as I’ve enjoyed their other albums.

The new Sojourner and Winterfylleth albums are also out today to satisfy my black metal needs!

My buddy and sometimes bandmate Nuha Ruby Ra releases her first single today, if you saw snapped ankles on tour last year you might have caught her early on supporting

New Roddy Woomble album out - bit droney/spoken wordy

Also, the really excellent and highly recommended new Electric Soft Parade album that I loved earlier in the year has a full release/is now on streaming services

Hmm, no it’s not in my opinion. It’s largely ok but I can’t see myself listening to it much, ah well. Looking forward to reading his memoir anyway.

New album by The Nightingales is out today, always a happy day for me

Really looking forward to this. Loved all the singles so far. “Hearts” was one of my favourite albums of the 2010s
