also if you haven’t already got this live mini album from a couple of years ago, she’s now donating all profits of it to BLM

i picked it up at a show last year but might buy the download anyway

Listening to this now!

Didn’t think much of Roly Porter on first listen

Stumbled across this lovely record after hearing a song on the radio

He’s apparently the singer in band I’ve never heard of called Ladybug Transmitter. He’s American but it was recorded in Norway and has something of that simple, sweet melodic sound that you associate with people like Kings of Convience or Sondre Lerche. It reminds me a bit of The Lilac Town and a few other things I can’t quite put my finger on.

Not the sort of thing that normally excites me that much but I really like it.

New Covet is out today. Twinkly tappy instrumental emo/math rock but written by someone who actually understands melody.

Face melting hardcore

you mean i can’t just spam random notes really quickly and hope something good happens by chance??

One not mentioned so far

Folky singer/songwriter type Sarah Jarosz

They’re an Elephant 6 band.
Check out their LP Albermarle Sound

 Glad to demonstrate how little I know about them by even getting their name wrong! Really like this Gary Olson record so I might seek them out (now I know what they’re called).

Alright, every band that tries to sound like Dillinger Escape Plan but aren’t them

Aye check em out. Abemarle Sound and s/t are my faves by them.
E6 has some great stuff beyond Neutral Milk Hotel/Apples In Stereo/Of Montreal so could be worth a snoop if youre curious.

Never heard of them before but:

Sports Team - Deep Down Happy

Kind of anarchic British indie pop debut. Can’t decide if the vocals/lyrics are hilarious or slightly annoying but I was smiling from ear to ear on my walk. 36 minute shot in the arm of a record - occasionally quite witty. Not heard anything like it in a little while. They seem to have 260,000 listeners on Spotify, though, so probably everyone has heard of them but me.

Sports Team are played constantly on 6 Music. I’d go with (more than slightly) annoying personally.

Hi all - I think @colossalhorse posted about this earlier, but the link wasn’t working. I have now fixed this.

31 tracks from 29 artists
All excellent (and I’m not just saying that because I curated it + appear on it).

A few of highlights to get you started:
Henri O R Asar - Toormi
Komarebi - Freq
AcouChristo - I’m Sorry That You Feel That Way

(plus contributions from Disintegration State stalwarts, Veins Full of Static and Sunbane(me))

£5 - all money goes towards keeping one of Cardiff’s most forward thinking venues open - they’re a big voice for inclusivity in the music scene and the city will be a lot poorer if the coronavirus clusterfuck pulls them under.

EDIT: hmm… weird… the link isn’t showing - fixed

Muzz albums quite enjoyable. Certainly better than the last few Interpol records.

More of a Cubist Castle man myself.
Aye didn’t mention OTC as I’d put them alongside the others I mentioned as the big hitters.
An amazing stable of bands.
E6 listening club hmmmmm
