Apparently Speedy Ortiz have an album out. I liked one of their albums, it reminded me of Nirvana. I don’t think that was what they were going for, but they’re good, imo.

Reckon I’m starting with hop hop today:

Lukah - Permanently Blackface (The 1st Expression)

Memphis rapper who has been on a roll with three agood albums before this that I reckon were getting better each time, so I have high hopes

Real Bad Man & Blu - Bad News

Always a fan of Real Bad Man’s beats, and I can imagine Blu working well over them.

Estee Nack & Machacha - .357

Hard, jazzy boom bap.

You could do your own DIY, but you know he’s gonna do it better.

FFO if Weezer fans wrote punk.

Maija Sofia - True Love

First album was quite stripped back gothic folk mainly with vocals, electric guitar and harp, but things are much more fleshed out this time with bass, drums etc. Still lots of nice harp though.

Released on M(h)aol / Fears’ label Tulle.

Just got into her previous album, The Wife of Michael Cleary is a lovely song

Yeah that’s a great song, based on a very grim true story. And has Junior Brother on backing vocals, as a bonus.

The Lankum/Katie Kim/Percolator side project ØXN do a cover of it which is gonna be on their album.

Garage psych band for fans of Oh Sees and King Gizzard. Their 7th album by my count?

Paperwing - String Fling
As the album name suggest, this has got lots of beautiful strings in it. Swedish orchestral pop, has collaborated with Loney Dear before, and has a lovely voice. Only listened to the first few songs so far, looking forward to the rest.

Assumed Slowdive would have more than 5 albums by now. Slowpokes more like.

Nikolaj Norlund - Alle Sostrene
Denmark’s version of Damon Albarn and Leonard Cohen. maybe, not quite sure what the Danish description on spotify says. Nice catchy synth pop.

Maria w Horn & Mats Erlandsson - Celestial Shores
Two 20-minute tracks, of seemingly ambient or experimental slow instrumental tracks. Maybe the silences are the most important parts.

Birthh - Moonlanded
Italian alt-pop singer songwriter.

eee-gee - SHE-REX
Danish pop.

Pale Blue Eyes - This House
An alternative sound already owing much to late 20th Century indie has been augmented with a sublime Sheffield-ism of synths and a deep dive into goth guitar wig outs. Cloud bursting with magical pop melodies

Public Memory - Elegiac Beat
FFO (apparently): Boy Harsher, Portishead, Thom Yorke, Radiohead, Beak>, ERAAS, SUUNS. Over the past seven years, Public Memory’s distinctive use of analog synthesizers, electronic beats mixed with organic percussion, lo-fi sound design, and gritty ambience has created a singularly eerie and shadowy world

SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE - I’m So Lucky EP
4 track ep of this experimental indie rockish band.

Erik Enocksson - Räkna evighet som intet
Not on spotify (so far at least), a new two track 30 minute release from a Swedish chap I liked from a few years ago.
Throughout the piece Enocksson weaves taut strings, tense static and veils of feedback with fragmented voices, all the while extracting verses from acclaimed Swedish poet Lotta Lotass into emotional chorales on the impermanence of life.
