🍁🆕 New Releases 01 Nov 24 🆕 🦞

After a ridiculous October, what will November bring…?

The Cure - Songs of a Lost World

First album in 16 years and getting rave reviews.

Beatrice Dillon - Seven Reorganisations

Her last album, Workaround, is an all timer for me. This is the first release on her new label and her first fully acoustic release.

Soshi Takeda - Secret Communication

Japanese deep house producer who only uses synths and samplers from the 90s.

Luke Wyland - Kuma Cove

Lovely new ambient album on Balmat. Luke Wyland overlays loops of live improvisations, in different tempos, as a reflection of his own stutter. “The musicality of my disfluency is revealed in its frictions, elongations, and foreshortenings,” Luke says.

I’ve been excited for the new Justin Robertson project, Five Green Moons

This is Justin delving into his roots and digging around through the likes of P.I.L, Gang Of Four, On-U-Sound, Current 93, Coil, Sabres Of Paradise and all manner of post punk echoes and basement electronics. As the man himself puts it - Moon 1 is a haunted ballroom full of memories. The sound of a dystopian disco. An object on a wonky orbit. A spectral visitation. And it is alive.

But it doesnt seem to be on streaming yet, so here’s a video instead

GAISTER - GAISTER
“GAISTER is a new encounter between soprano vocalist Olivia Salvadori (Tutto Questo Sentire), drummer/percussionist Akihide Monna (Bo Ningen), and songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Coby Sey.”
Wasn’t sure what this was when I started it, and I’m still not sure, but damn it’s intriguing. Occasionally operatic, lovely harmonies, spoken word, silences and interesting music. Will have a proper listen and buy tickets for their King’s Place gig later this month if I’m still loving it.

First new song from Hope of the States in 18 years and it’s far better than it has any right to be. 11 and a half minutes of it

Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp - Ventre Unique
Very much looking forward to this, I suspect/hope it’ll be in my top five at the end of the month if it doesn’t disappoint. One of my favourite live bands of recent years, helped by the fact that there are 15 or so of them with various cool instruments and different vocalists.
A “dynamic exploration that seamlessly blends folk, krautrock, post-punk, and African rhythms,”

Haley Heynderickx - Seed of a Seed

After far too many years she’s finally back! Her first album is one of my favourites of the entire decade so I’m thrilled for this

Haven’t listened to many of the singles, but expecting wry poetic lyrics, beautiful lush indie folk, and a pretty one of a kind voice. Just stops me in my tracks every time

Julia Sabra - Natural History Museum
Very lovely voice, delicate acoustic piano dreamy songs. Lebanese musician, recorded in Beirut over the past four years with Fadi Tabbal, who she released a joint album with a couple of years ago. The first few tracks so far are beautiful.
