Soso and Maki - If And Only If
Wow, a new Soso album. His last album was 8 years ago, and I love the two albums I have of his. A rare bit of hip hop that I actually like, although it’s almost like spoken word poetry maybe. @static you might like him (at least his two previous records - I need more time with this one still to see). He sort of reminds me of Thee More Shallows and Roommate and Son Lux, but maybe I’m just throwing out names of bands that you like just to get you disappointed when you listen!

Departure Lounge - Transmeridian
First album in almost 20 years. Was nice seeing them do a reunion gig a couple of years ago, seeing as they were never that big to begin with. Just tagging @fontilan in, as they posted about their single at the end of 2020.

Kishi Bashi - Emigrant EP
6 track EP from the great Kishi Bashi. catchy banjo and violin songs.

Lya Foy - Fornever
I loved her first EP to pieces, but didn’t end of loving her first two albums (although one good song from her last album had Mercury Rev’s Jonathan Donahue sing on it). But this one sounds quite lovely so far.

Richard Walters - Devon Or Las Vegas EP
Melancholic singer songwriter stuff. He’s got a great voice and I’ve liked some of his previous albums.

Loving the Departure Lounge album.

It’s like Deserters Songs crossed with a Pet Sounds vibe.

This is a pleasant surprise. I’ve not heard of the band before and am liking what I hear so far. Thanks for the tip.

I haven’t heard this new one yet, but there’s definitely a CH vibe to a lot of their earlier records!

What do people make of the new Godspeed? On a first listen I’m not sure it’s very memorable but I like it more than the last one.

Looking forward to giving the new GY!BE album later

I enjoyed it, will need a few more listens to see where it fits in. I liked how hopeful the second long track felt by the end, left me optimistic in some way which GY!BE doesn’t usually. Nothing new for them, but seems alright.

Oh, I like this!!

There’s a bit of Hot Snakes sound here too.

I’d definitely recommend checking out their earlier mid nineties stuff. They don’t get mentioned often, but there’s a lot in their back catalogue to like…

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - G_d’s Pee At States End

Fantastic. Particularly tracks 3 and 4.

Yeah Flock of Dimes sounds very good on first listen

Technically not out today but also wasn’t out by this time last week so gonna stick it here

Clubby plunderphonics type affair, similar to DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ’s album last year. Reckon people might like it if they enjoyed some of the clubbier album tracks on Daft Punk’s Discovery (Crescendolls or High Life for example) or The Avalanches’ work. Not as good or as groundbreaking as those two obvs, and at 66 mins it’s too long, but there are a lot of fun highs on it.

This is doing a lot for me! O wow, one of the albums of the year i think. Really like the distorted guitar (?) drones that are present in a lot of the tracks but are mostly kept low in the mix.

Hoped the Dry Cleaning album would help me make my up about them. I still can’t make my mind up about them.

This for me to. Bought the vinyl from Bandcamp and it made it to the U.S a week before release , which is greatly appreciated. Usually I have to wait 2 or 3 weeks after the release for international preorder to arrive. Then the record came with a hand written note, a signed print and was packaged beautifully. Could tell alot of care was put into it.
