Greg Freeman - All Set The Bone
After fantastic album last year, Greg is already back with a new, sprawling album. Indie/alt country/folk. Stereogum’s album of the week.
Lily Seabird - Lightspheres on Their Way
Officialy released back in September but finally available digitally.
Wishy - Nature’s Pill
Aww yeah it’s some fine midwestern power pop right here.
Phoebe Green - PREMATURE NOSTALGIA
Synthy art pop, a bit on the dark/melancholic side but with some idiosyncrasies and bite.
Lily seabird
I remember earmarking this to listen to listen to quite excitedly but I can’t remember why now…
Helen - Linda’s Head
Second album from Liz Harris’ side project. Flying Nun, Twee Pop and soft-focus shoegaze is the order of the day here.
Expecting big things from this.
Karl Mattar (Interbellum) - Light Gleams
First single from Karl’s first solo album. Recorded during and about Israel’s war on Lebanon. FFO - Mount Eerie, Cloud, The Antlers
Spirited Followers - I Am Yours
Spirited Followers are an experimental folk band from Cardiff that combine Appalachian folk, Indian classical, Greek, Post-rock and Avant-Garde music.
Meshell Ndegeocello - Synonym
Jazz/neo-soul singer with a collection of classic duets with a cast of star collaborators, including Bill Callahan, ANOHNI, Brandi Carlile, Chaka Khan & Cat Power. I’m enjoying her take on Don’t You Want Me with the latter.
Conceived by Meshell as “an expression of queer liberation.”
Vanishing Twin - Archives
Maybe it’s because it’s 7:45am or I’m a lazy shit, but I’m going with Will Ainsley from the Quietus’s description: sounds like Chiastic Slide-era Autechre reimagining the Wicker Man soundtrack.
Vanishing Twin is automatically a must-listen though, same as anything else with Valentina Magaletti involved.
Teodros Makonnen - Teodros Makonnen with his Organ
First proper release of 1980s Ethiopian artist playing traditional Ethiopian music on electric organs and drum machines - previously only available on impossible to track down cassette release. The couple of pre-released tracks from this have been gorgeous.
Dev Lemons - Hunting what we already killed
Spooky, glitchy and often extremely beautiful bedroom pop
She makes those incredibly offputting short horror videos that seem like a 90s point and click pc game. And she streams making her own tunes too, ridiculously talented. The songs are in the same vein, horror soundtrack coded with a dash of triphop and Magdelana Bay.
Happy Susanne Sundfør Day
Expect more beautiful and haunting music
Susanne Sundfør – Revelations Of Divine Love
The Koreatown Oddity- Purdy
LA left field rapper The Koreatown Oddity returns for his fourth album on Stones Throw.
Logic1000 - Confirmation
The Australian DJ and producer follows last years excellent DJ Kicks mix with a second album loaded with collaborators
Peverlist - Pace the Wrecks EP
Pev explores Afro-Latinate house and bass-swung, pointillist electro
Hodge - Big Splash
Bristol staple Hodge ‘swaggers thru deep, big-boned and dubby garage-house variants on a sturdy 2nd album’
ML Buch - Suntub Extras
Instrumental expansion of the excellent 2023 album 'Suntub '.
1 + 1 - Never Coming Down
A new* single from my little label and project 1 + 1
Dreamy indie R&B. Stick it in your Soft Feminine Energy playlist or similar
*Technically this was supposed to be released last Friday but Distrokid messed up the mapping to stores and only fixed it yesterday
Max Cooper - Fabric Presents Max Cooper
Max mixing some musics of the down tempo techo variety, I guess.
Blossoms - Songs From The Wedding Cake
New album from the Stockport lads. Because sometimes it’s fine to enjoy some big ol indie pop bangers too.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith - Ruin : It’s Not Just Music
Experimental modular synth artist moving towards glitchy club bangers in this new one.
Oh yeaaah
