Think I might be breaking the rules here, but right this second it is in fact already tomorrow across approximately 1/6th of the planet, and the new Infinity Broke album has already had it’s Friday release:
Infinity Broke — This Masthead
(Drones-like alt-rock)
I wanted to post this before I go to bed. Apologies if I’ve ruined new music Friday.
Our new slightly unhinged new single ‘Dyson Airblade Domestic’ is streaming everywhere tomorrow. Will add link then. But for now it’s streaming on the album pre-order.
It’s a subject matter that as old as time and sure been covered many times before, it’s about buying a Dyson Airblade for your home bathroom.
As usual a few Hip-Hop/Rap albums are top of my list…
sleepingdogs - Dogstoevsky
Andrew & Jesse The Tree deliver album number 3 as sleepingdogs, last year’s Will we ever dance again? was my Hip-Hop album of the year so I’m looking forward to this. Homeboy Sandman & Brian Ennals provide the features.
Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals - A City Drowned In God’s Black Tears
Another duo dropping their third album, 2022’s King Cobra was well regarded in these parts & based on the singles I’ve heard so far I think “A City Drowned…” might follow suit
Boldy James & V Don - Alphabet Highway
Boldy’s relentless 2025 continues with album number 5, V Don handles the production and Boldy handles all the raps.
Barker - Stochastic Drift
Pretty, vaporous electronic, not heavy on beats, often closer to jazz, often closer to ambient. Some of it reminds me a lot of Vladislav Delay’s old practice of arranging electronic dance sounds organically and living in the dissonance between expectation and form.
Playfully swerving through house, Afrobeats, and wistful German-language pop, Stefan Kozalla’s latest album makes good on his inextinguishable supply of curiosity and childlike wonder.
Really liked Amygdala from years ago so I’ll give this one a spin.
Scowl - Are We All Angels
Increasingly alt rocky hardcore, continuing down the melodic path they started on with the Psychic Dance Routine EP. Quite like what I’ve heard so far.
