Wasn’t all that drawn to the last Lomelda album but this one is cracking so far. Great balance of the wounded quite songs with the slightly punchier stuff, which I wasn’t expecting - remember the last album being a lot more one-note? Or that’s unfair, but more consistent in mood and volume

yeah, love it so far. they really push the boat out don’t they. yet somehow really accessible

Having played Throwing Muses a couple of times, moved on to “Do The Duvet” from Naked Roommate. Self-described as dub punk, the review I picked up on it from mentioned ESG and Young Marble Giants. I’m rather enjoying it.

There’s remixes of the new Unloved single that have come out, but they can whistle if they think I’m paying £7.92 for the digital or twelve or thirteen quid for the 12" (which seems to have sold out everywhere anyway)

I’m hearnig more Dave Hause than Gaslight Anthem although I admit thats a fine distinction.

new Michael Rother

it’s pretty nice, almost a bit trip hoppy/dream poppy

has some nice ethereal female vocals

Enjoying this. Sounds like somewhere between These New Puritans and Coil with a lil bit of Forest Swords or Tim Hecker.

yeah definite TNP vibe in there. a touch of swans and magma as well.

Watertank is great so far. Maybe they should have called themselves Waltertank instead

Yes – totally agree. Was supposed to see Jawbox in June. Hopefully the rescheduled date will go ahead next year!

Not actually listened to this band yet but the beer that Drygate put out with them last year, a Belgian IPA, was absolutely fantastic. Will give them a listen on that basis alone.

Thanks, @malick. Couple of tracks in and I am liking what I hear. Long time since I saw/heard any output from Michael Rother; always welcome. Gentle and soothing for a Saturday morning. Thank you …

Big fan of the Lawn album, thanks man. Nice and jangly without being too sweet or samey

Really enjoying Yelle, I’d never heard of them before, kudos to all who tipped them above.

Found a few more releases I’ve queued up for a bit of weekend working today:

Vritra - SONAR: “soft-focused elevator rap” from one of the Odd Future crew

Mino Cinelu and Nils Petter Molvaer - SulaMadiana: Jazz with Nordic and Caribbean influences from the former Weather Report and Miles Davis percussionist and the Norwegian ambient trumpeter.

Saint Saviour - Tomorrow Again: Mellow tunes from Teeside singer-songwriter who was a lead vocalist for Groove Armada, with appearances from Badly Drawn Boy, Willy Mason and Bill Ryder-Jones.

Krononaut - Krononaut: Somewhere on the spectrum between ambient and jazz, band put together by Leo Abrahams (guitarist for Brian Eno) featuring Matana Roberts on sax amongst others.

Thought you were asking who I was talking about, was about to say “but you just suggested them 5 minutes ago!”
