Saw them supporting Anthony Szmierek. Was decent enough. “This here ain’t water” stood out above the rest though

Also do you mean Yard Act?

This is great!

No, I think I like them, from memory.

guessing Independence day is the main impact on the amount of releases scheduled for today?

Cerrone and Christine and the Queens - Catching Feelings EP

Disco pop. Christine and the Queens working with the godfather of French disco Cerrone (responsible for the stone cold disco classic Supernature. There’s a remix of it on this EP).

Quietest week in ages. Does anyone know the reason why there are so few new releases at this time of year?

We Lost The Sea - A Single Flower

It’s another We Lost The Sea album, it sounds exactly how you think it does, it’s good.

Today specifically is independence day in the US so most labels probably steer clear.

Al Karpenter - Greatest Heads

Really intriguing work of avant collagist out music. Dense and meandering and constantly surprising.

Quietus aotw:

Charbel Haber, Nicolás Jaar & Sary Moussa - Crashing waves dance to the rhythm set by the broadcast journalist revealing the tragedies of the day

Long ambient pieces with Haber on guitar, Jaar on bass clarinet and Moussa manipulating live feeds of both.
Haber and Moussa are both Lebanese; this was recorded in Beirut last August under the specter of Israeli bombardment and in solidarity with Lebanon.

They play at so many festivals

Strange album title

I heard they never actually leave the festival, instead the festival moves around with them, like an atmosphere to a planet.

Not sure why it keeps doing that!

Burden of Ymir - The Long Winter

Catchy as hell melodic black metal from Canada.

GUAPA - Fyr

What if Alice in Chains/QotSA were fronted by Björk? An EP.

Motherfuckers JMB & Co - Music Excitement Action Beauty

Stereogum’s AOTW, although Spotify says it came out June 13.

Anyway, my first impression is “instrumental psychedelic Fugazi”. Featuring Geologist from Animal Collective.
