New Releases 09/04/2021

Yeah this is great. Highlight of the round in music league for me, particularly as it’s a genre I wouldn’t have in my radar usually.

Was planning on using today to skim through the various new releases in this thread, but I’ve so far just ended up listening to these three albums (other than Francis, which didn’t click as much) and really enjoying them, thanks!
I’m hoping I don’t like too much else in this thread, or this is going to take a long time.

Oops, that was supposed to be a reply to @Anon6716638 !

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there’s tons of good stuff in this thread.

Those Kareem Ali and Black Dog releases are both brilliant!

Saccades have a new one out. This is Nicholas from the KVB and it’s on Fuzz Club.

Thanks for this, I never realised they had a new one out. My mate is friends with their keyboard/samples guy and I remember meeting them at the Scala years ago supporting Cult of Luna. Amazing gig.

I missed Lake Haze. Chilled electronica with some acid flourishes.

Kareem Ali is so bloody good, he’s got loads of stuff!

Very late but I heard this on Worldwide FM this morning and felt compelled to share

Jinje is an alias for Lee Malcom, who is a member of Leeds based group Vessels (who I have to admit to having never heard of before), anyway this is a nice quirky house track.

Vessels were an ok post rock band who became a much better dance act.

Looking forward to Jinje’s upcoming album.

Last 2 weeks have been really good - really deflated and thought I was losing interest in new music after 2 months of very :I releases IMHO with all the highly praised stuff not doing it for me AT AL!

Matthew E. White is always good value for a pleasent listen - not essential but nice in good weather

Yukika’s EP has 3 or 4 great songs on it IMHO and cant wait to hear more of these ‘mini albums’ as she really nails the City Pop aesthetic.

Brockhampton - not their best but a return to form - really good record

Not heard Gazelle Twin yet which I shall remedy

Thought last month was great personally - if you haven’t heard them the TOBACCO and Tiggs da Author albums were two I thought were great fun but seem to have gone a bit under the radar here.

I added Tobaccoo to my library but never listened to it! I’ve liked what I heard before so will fix that today before tomorrows releases

What would you say is Brockhampton’s best record?

For me it’s a toss-up between Saturation II and III and yeah, this new one seems close (iridescence is also underrated IMO, there’s still a sense of freewheeling creativity even if the tone is more abrasive and difficult).

I never really enjoyed Ginger, outside of a few key tracks.

Saturation 2 and 3 are heads and shoulders above the rest - I’d put the newest in line with the debut

Ginger I listened to twice and left it

I reckon Inderecence is a step below the debut and roadrunner but enjoyable
