BLK LBL LP by Armand Hammer is “out” (will only be available at their shows on this tour and not on streaming but it’s been ripped). Probably better than most people’s official LPs.

Edit: Video is down, consult your local Armand Hammer show/favourite file sharing service

Was about to post this. Great fun, On Our Way to the Rave is an absolute bop.

Couple of bits on my radar today including American Analog Set’s big compilation of their old singles and EPS etc now on streaming. Main one today however is

Loving - Any Light

Lovely cozy indie/folk pop from Canada. Their first full length from a couple of years ago was one of my favorites from that year. The singles from this have been great too. FFO Whitney, The Byrds etc

New Madi Diaz sounds really good on first listen. More of that good ol sunlicked Americana confessional songwritery stuff if you need that fix today

Yellowcard + Hammock - A Hopeful Sign

Emo pop punkers team up with ambient post rockers to create some pretty covers of their songs.

W.H. Lung - W.H. Lung on Audiotree Live

Not an album but a live EP dropped a couple of days ago. Their live show is fantastic so I’m looking forward to giving this a listen

Yeah, it’s an absolute blast isn’t it. Loved the singles, so had hoped the album would be up to the same standard, and it is!

Also a fan of 27 minute albums.

Spectral Voice - Sparagmos

Death/Doom metal featuring 3/4 of Blood Incantation plus a singing drummer. My first big anticipated release of the year along with Chelsea Wolfe

Lakker - Gateway

Irish electronic duo’s first release in five years. From skimming seems more IDM than clubby, but there are amen breaks too

Aureole - Alunarian Bellmaster

Gothic doom/black metal with some soaring post-rock touches

Nadia Struiwigh - Voxis Ohlun

Techno EP, spacey and deep with some added wubs

New Simz Ep is brilliant, great to hear her change up style; can’t say I gave or expect to give No Thank You a second listen but this EP is pound for pound as exciting as anything she’s released.

(edit: meant the No Thank You release not just the Gorilla track iin general)

What an odd collab

No Thank You is good and I think intentionally a lower key release/palette cleanser after all the pomp and ambition of SIMBI. Somewhat more ‘one for the fans’, but I wouldn’t call it a misstep.

Will give the new EP ago after 1.5 hours on a church drone tip.

Edit: Sounded good. Not sure it’s all a game material, but makes the new direction makes me excited for the next album

Yes, this is sounding good

That’s what I thought at first, but it works. It’s nothing ground breaking but a very pleasant listen.

My goodness, that reworked Incubus tune is very, very poor. What were they thinking?? The drums are all over the place.

Tour for anyone who enjoys the record.

The Sorcerers - I Too Am A Stranger - LP - Afrobeat
The best Ethiopique sound you can find in Leeds. Hypnotic rhythm & bass is accompaned by counter rhythms as well as the contrast of reeds/flute/xylophone on top. FFO Antibalas

[edit] SongWhip Link (Single Only)

Champagne Dub - Rainbow - LP - Pysche
I love everyone involved in this (Ruth G, Betamax & Clive bell) and I will support them on the effort, but this release wasn’t for me, a little too disjointed for me to find a comfortable groove. I’d recommend Refreshment Guy over the preview track too. FFO Lee “Scratch” Perry / Flamingods

And one missed last week…

Watchdog - Fables - LP - Avant-Garde
Piano + clarinette performing surreal atmospheric tracks that can feel discounted but coelece into haunting pop songs. Its fun. FFO Ruby My Dear

Dreamy folk music on the Paradise of Bachelors label. Loved her last couple of records
